Dale Hansen is a sports reporter for Channel 8 News in the DFW area. He is the guy that helped bring down SMU during the death penalty scandal. He is extremely smug and ruff in his interviews.
He was talking about the what was going on at Penn State and how the victims are so ashamed that they don't tell anyone or say anything when thats the worst thing they could do. He then goes on to tell a story about how when he was a kid, a sixteen year old started to sexually assault him and had gotten to a point where his pants down at his knees but for whatever reason the boy stopped. Hansen said that should have said something then but didn't because there was no telling who else the boy had done that to. He said if the kid punched him or took his lunch money or something like that he would have told everybody. But because of the nature of what happened he said nothing. And as he is explaining this on his sports show his trying his hardest to hold back the tears to continue to look straight into the camera and get through the segment. It was a really moving and powerful moment to me. And think he was courageous for doing so. I just wanted to know if anyone else had seen it. I didnt go into type this much so i didnt go into detail.
Unfortunately for all of us he didn't get ass raped, maybe that would have gotten him to keep his ing mouth shut and not spend decades ear raping North Texas with his arrogant ty sports takes.
Anyone familiar with Hansen in the DFW sports market, knows that he pretty much has carte blanche and editorial authority to do and say what he wants. He's always been a hard-edged, straight-shooting, arrogant, wise-ass, who has pissed off many over the years. However he dominated the local TV ratings year in and year out. However, this is even a stretch of honesty - even for him. This would be an Oprah moment.
