So when they sign Ime Udoka and Keith Bogans as their new front line we can pick up whoever they let go.

if they throw that 1,300 pound boulder into the middle of the ocean, they'll have a better metaphor for what this raptors team will do this season

They can keep it. Hasn't done a lot for us lately. Maybe, we can change to pound the D. Particularly, interior. Particularly, Bonner and Blair.

Pop's Rock & Hammer beg to differ.

But it's a great metaphor for an undertalented team. It's a huge, unreachable carrot.

It should instead be a tank sitting outside the arena, with "tank the season" on it.

That's a much quicker way to get there than pounding some stupid rock.

    Unacceptable.

They can take the slogan if they agree to take Matt Bonner with it tbh.

Did coach Pop get it somehow from George Karl or did this guy flat out steal it from coach Pop.

    The article says:
Casey isn’t the first to implement the mantra in sports. Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden used the “Pound the Rock” motto. The team had a rock in the locker room in 2002, the year it won the Super Bowl.

The San Antonio Spurs also have the rock and the motto.

The Raptors seem to have embraced the philosophy.
What it doesn't say is that the Spurs have used the quote as their motto since their Championship season in 1999. That was well before 2002 when Coach Gruden had the rock in his locker room.

I'm surprised the line about the Spurs didn't get edited out, per ESPN policy.

Looks like the Lakers have "borrowed" it too:

Anyone remember how far back it goes? I know Pop had it up in 1999 but, IIRC, it goes back even more. I don't think it dates back all the way to when Pop was hired as GM ... but maybe.

Popovich’s explanation to the San Antonio Express-News earlier this year illuminates the message from the quote very well:

I thought it embodied anyone’s effort in any endeavor, really. It doesn’t have to be basketball. It can be a musical instrument, or learning mathematics, or going to law school or figuring out how to turn the water off in your house when you’re an idiot. You just keep looking, you keep trying, you keep going.
