5 rings, got!
This thread is not for you PollyAnna Poppers. Or is it?
Nor those who sincerely like to root for the Spurs, win or lose regardless of whom is coaching the team. And for most of you that's *CIA* Popped.
For those of you who see Popped for what he is, that being running into the ground what was the NBA premiers team on the verge of a mini or full-on dynasty at the end of 2005. To the current 2008 - onward version of the D'Antoni Phonenix Suns. Only softer.
Once again they are looking okay early. Soft is showing some erection, Popped is actually playing the correct players including allowing Splitter to play albeit rarely with Tim at the same time.
Ya know come playoff time we're gonna see Bonner and small balls as the featured point of Pops team. However....
In the event the 2012 Lord Poppy Spurs do win the le, what will you do?
Post it now, don't back down if the miracle occurs.
I will wear a "Greg Popovich Rocks Best Coach in the NBA" shirt publicly at least one day a week for the next calander year.
Two more asterisks than your team has!
I would appreciate it more than any other championship the Spurs had won.
I would post the words, "Gregg Popovich made me eat -and I am loving it"...
next to my Spurstalk name....
Let's win this one for.....
....
....crap, we don't have a ringless, aging vet on the team anymore.
Let's win this one for RJ!![]()
haha win for !!
kobe: 2.5
duncan: 5
Really? It's all Pop's fault? The decline in Spurs fortunes has nothing to do with Bowen's retirement and the miles on our HoFer's legs?![]()
I'll do the same things I do now. I get nothing for it.
However, you narrowed your audience to just you, so you should have answered and moved on.
Ruff,
I know you are not a PPopper so let me remind of the 2008 playoffs. Spurs were hozing Kobme and the Lakers by 20 mid 3rd. We had not only all the momentum for the game but would have had a huge 'Mo advantage for the series up 1-0 as game 1 was in LaLa Land. So we win not only game 1 but steal home court advantage. Popovich pulled Bowen off of Kobme and also went small balls the rest of the way. We lost a close one and never recovered. (Poppers, (not you Ruff) see Timvps comments on this play)
He left an obviously very injured Manu in for Gms 2 and 3 and waved the white flag with his comments "We will not win with Manu out".Talk about spineless quitter/non believer in your bench. I don't want to hear any crap about how we had "no chance".
Pop also failed to call out the b.s. non call when Derek Swisher landed on Barry at the end of Gm 4. If he decided to make "no comment" as some think it's bravado to not put any blame on officials, i could have possibly lived with that. Instead he justified the Swisher foul by calling it a no foul.
Pure and utter bull .
And Bowen retired how and why? All part of the process of turning Spursball into Pussyball. Architect? Popped and RC. Popped, who took on the "President of Spurs Basketball" le.
Bowen, to those who claim no other team wanted him, we'll never know. I submit perhaps Bowen made it known he would only play in SA so no other teams should bother. Either way it was the end of the Spurs as we knew them. (Having a sack, playing tough D, Tallballs with sacked up rolies like Malik Rose, Man From Nazr, etc).
Especially if it was against Miami... would be nice to deny Lebron again.
I think you have to change coaches every few years. Players eventually get tired of listening to the same thing from the same coach.
Finally, I got proof that you really are re ed. Thanks Fabby.
Lol I'd imagine that any kind of true Spurs fan would be ecstatic if the Spurs win a championship this year - regardless of their personality.
angelbelow how will you show your happiness?
So what you are saying is the Spurs need a ring?
So if the Spurs do win, do they nickname this year's OBrien the Prince Albert
I remember the 2008 Lakers series, and the main reason we lost it was Manu's injury... sure Pop went on to play Manu when he was injured, but what was he supposed to do? Manu obviously wanted to play, and Finley/Barry wasn't likely to win the series. The other reason we lost is smallball, but we had to go small because Fab and Rob were pretty much done and there were no other bigs on the roster.
As for Bruce's retirement, he retired because he was done. He lost at least a step in his final season and as a consequence lost most of his effectiveness. He wouldn't have quit if he hadn't become ineffective.
As for this: "All part of the process of turning Spursball into Pussyball", it simply does not make any sense. Pop and RC won 2 les with Twin Towers, and then two more with smaller teams founded on suffocating D, why the would they actively sabotage themselves? They wouldn't. They simply didn't have the players to play that way any more, nor the assets to acquire guys who could. Remember we also missed out on guys like Sefolosha and Batum who could have taken over Bruce's role and maintained our D to some extent.
I am neither a Pop hater nor a Pop apologist. Same for RC. I think they are human beings who've made a lot of great decisions in the past decade plus, and also some terrible ones, just like every other human being on the planet. Having said that, Pop and RC have done better than most - they helped to bring us 4 rings, and engineered the highest winning % in American professional sports for over a decade. As a fan, I'll take that any day of the week.
Fabbs pushing the envelope.
Literally, I'll go find a pristine spot at the River Parade, and scream and yell like a fool, then I'll haul ass to the AT&T Center, and scream and yell like a fool..
Figuratively, I'd swan dive off the top of the Hemisphere Tower...
make a black tshirt with two silver * on the back and the front says NBA Champions with the spurs logo.
El Che has said it before. Spurs look good early cause they are old professionals and kept in shape during the lockout. As the rest of the teams get in shape, the Spurs will fall to the back of the pack. Where they belong.
