What an idiot...another classic Spurstalk poster that knows nothing about NBA basketball.
Let's be real; the Spurs aren't winning anything. I say trade the likes of Duncan, Parker, Jefferson and Ginobli and build around the young guys. Pop's insistence trying to win it all every year has resulted in this team being old with little to no future. At this juncture it's best to get what we can for the relics and take it from there.

So you're saying we are in contention to win a championship this year?
Would be nice but doesn't seem like it will happen...
Ah my poor boy. Alas your assertions are but the ramblings of a spoiled delinquent. Face reality matey. The quicker done the better. Please refer to this prophetic proclamation where I was chastised for merely stating fact.

Sadly you my good sir are mistaken and confused. I understand that it is hard to accept that our team is but a middle of the pack pretender but this is the reality. Carry on with your useless insults. It does nothing to change reality.
Funny thing is Spurs ARE in rebuilding mode right now. It's so obvious.
So what are the plans? Might as well ride this core out for some ing loyalty at the least. We can rebuild after Timmy and Manu retire in silver and black. Then trade Parker and let the remaining contracts expire. Let the team run it's course and cross your fingers for a franchise HOF-tier player again.
Typical I expect after a loss.
Lol, "the sky is falling, the sky is falling"
These boards remind me of the movie Sybil sometimes
Edit: Fixed now

Sky fell a long time ago for this team. This is just waiting for the rebuild at this point...
Spurs are still a top-tier team. You'd have to be a complete idiot if you said this team needed to be blown up. Washington needs to be blown up, not us. Even if they weren't good enough to win it all, it would be absolutely wrong to trade Timmy. He stuck with us so we have to stick with him. He could have left for Orlando ten years ago, but he stayed in a smaller market because it was the right thing to do. Anyone who says we should trade Timmy is just stupid.
I agree that we might already be in the rebuilding stage. Who says you have to get rid of all your players to rebuild. We have about 6 young, great looking players that will hopefully carry the load in the next few seasons. We can rebuild without losing.
Whatever route the Spurs take, I hope Bonner is gone by the end of the season.
I've seen way too much of this guy more than I need to.
I wouldn't blow the team up, but it's clear something needs to be done. It's the same something that needed to be done in the off season and really has needed to be done for years and that is this: they need to get Duncan proper help inside. If it's not going to be a guy who can take the load off in all aspects, then at least defensively.
This team just lost to an atrocious offensive team, despite scoring 103 points, on 60% shooting from the field, while out rebounding them by five. Why? Because they can't defend. They gave up 106 points, on 52% shooting and 64% from three. As of yesterday, the Spurs were 25th in defensive efficiency and you can bet that just went down. They're not only not improved defensively, they've managed to get worse, just like the past few seasons.
The bottom line is this: If they want to be a credible defensive team again, then they need a big, who's a plus defender, who can log around 30 mpg next to Duncan. It's that simple.
Another step forward for Leonard tonight, Timmy played a good game, RJ missed a few, but the stroke still looks great and his hustle and defense are getting better.
yeah, blow it up!!![]()
The key is D. I thought the one hope this team had to compete was to get back (at least part way) to Spurs D.
With Leonard, Duncan (still) and Splitter, that looked like a good core to work from.
But it's just not happening.
I think MB needs to sit until the defense gets straightened out. The King of +/- is no more -- minus 13 for the game (the only player in double figures plus or minus).
So let me get this right, you are upset that Pop has the Spurs giving it their all year in and year out? Pop gunning for the Larry Obrien trophy every year has made you give up? Giving it your all every year to the tune of 4 NBA championships aint such a bad deal and I for one appreciate the quality of basketball the Spurs have presented their fans over the past 20 years straight, and counting. Especially from all the old guys!
I am grateful for all that POP and the guys have done. But much like Phil Jackson, Pop is not willing to just play through an NBA season anymore. He has earned that right, but attempting to field a Championship Caliber team every year has hurt the development of young players and the future of the team. In my opinion Pop got tunnel vision and only focused on one thing: Winning a Ring. All the while the future of the franchise was being sacrificed.
And if Pop wasn't going after that le each year you would be alright with that? No "what the @@@#!$!$$ is Pop doing, Timmy only has a few years left and we need the gas pedal down so we can try and get another before the window is closed"?
Actually, you could argue that Pop quit going after championships the day he and RC signed Bonner![]()
I pray that Bonner is somehow trades by the trade deadline, I've had enough of this .
Lefty was right...Fire Pop, and trade Parker.
Unfortunately the spurs will replace him with that other dumbass ty cuckold Bundenholzer.
I feel you man. Who do you suggest?
This. This. And more this.![]()
Sixers gave up Speights for a bag of peanuts. Given that he plays little to no defense I can understand the lack of interest by the Spurs front office. But on the other hand neither do Blair or Bonner. Plus Speights has the prototypical PF/C body for the NBA.
Davis. It would take overwhelming/overpaying the Raptors for them to part with him. But as I said earlier, with Bargnani and A. Johnson going to another level, plus Valanciunas in the offing, I think they could be persuaded. The Spurs were supposedly high on him going into the '10 draft, so I wouldn't be surprised if they kick the tires. But it's probably going to take all three pieces. Maybe they could get a 2nd back, in addition to him.
I look at it this way though: Whoever they get, they'd be replacing Blair. Anderson, there's no room for in the rotation once they're healthy. And deep draft or not, they shouldn't let a non lottery pick stop them from getting a piece that they've needed for going on half a decade.
I'm tired of the excuses. They have the assets to do it now, they just need to stop overvaluing them. Right now, they're getting exactly what they deserve.
Optimism after a Spurs win for some ST members.
Davis would be an excellent get. Don't know what it would take. I'd hate to lose Anderson, but Blair and a 1st would be wonderful.
