It's bad business all the way around...we all know that Duncan isn't / wasn't better than Bird so all this does is inflate his ego...Duncan hasn't contributed the excitement to the game he hasn't saved the game the way that Magic and Bird did so his passing Bird on the scoring list is a joke...
and no this isn't the same as the Kobe / MJ comparisons...Kobe is beloved globally and has contributed to basketball as much as MJ did from a PR and marketing perspective...He's added excitement to the game...Duncan has not and therefore his accomplishment is far less impressive...

I'll be honest here, that is about right for Tim ...he aint quite in the MJ, Kareem Kobe and Magic class. But a case can be made that Duncan is greater than Bird, KG and Shaq.
Sure, Bird had more impact league wide ...but Duncan put a whole franchise on his back and carried his version of Gasol/Bird to the promise land.He als o was the best player on the only 4 les they have. That trumps Bird 3 for a team that has 17 ...tbh. Not sure I definitely would put Duncan over Bird but I might ...
Kobe is better than bird, the Bird-man has said it himself. That is one thing I liked about Bird, he had no problem admitting Magic and MJ were greater than him.

It may have taken more seasons but Duncan has more rings, points, rebounds and blocks. Bird has more MVP's and he got them when the award was more legit ...but that should not be held against Duncan because the award has turned to crap. also Past his prime David and Manu are his two greatest team-mates ... Kevin McHale was better than both.
