Houston 107, Portland 105: Blazers endure painful overtime loss to Rockets
HOUSTON -- They were punked in Phoenix, slapped in San Antonio and clubbed by the Clippers.
But Saturday night's 107-105 overtime loss to the Houston Rockets just may be the most painful of the young season for the suddenly beleaguered Trail Blazers.
After clawing back from a double-digit deficit in the second game of a back-to-back to force overtime — and then some how, some way snatching the lead — the Blazers crumbled in the closing minutes thanks to a barrage of bricks, bad decisions and bad play. It added up to a third consecutive loss and officially put an end to the early-season buzz the team had generated over the first two-and-a-half weeks.
"We can't go in a corner and hide," Jamal Crawford said. "We have to man up and figure this out."
At the top of the list of things to figure out is late-game success and there are several plays down the stretch that went against the Blazers (7-5) Saturday night. Some of the most glaring involved guard point guard Raymond Felton, who has endured a Jekyll and Hyde start to his Blazers career.
