I can see them picking the undeserving Dirk due to his dominance as a finals MVP but picking Gasol (and that one) was just a giftwrap to a franchise that needs to draw fans.

Duncan with a far higher PER, better team winning percentage and a similar FG% and during his time on the court rebounds at a higher rate (the only thing Gasol is doing is having a slightly higher block rate) still a far better player period. Duncan has also hit a game winning shot and carried the Spurs along with Parker during their recent surge without Manu. All Gasol has done is play a lot of minutes and prove once and for all he cannot carry a team without another big like Randolph next to him. Ok that Duncan was not selected but Marc Gasol absolutley did not deserve to be a West selection. even Splitter has a higher PER than Gasol and if Pop played him enough might be in the discussion instead of an arbitrary pick of a big guy leading his team nowhere.

Duncan's good play has him steadily moving up this list. It gives me hope that the Spurs may have another long playoff run in them.

Glad Tim gets to rest and practice with SPLITTER during the AS break.
