I'm just waiting for the media to get a hold of this and for the feminized weak losers of the country to make an outcry about how this man is dangerous and how an investigation needs to opened up, yada yada yada, which in turn gives more power to these little assholes and helps them believe that they are in control of the household, therefore screwing up this country even more.

why not? Judging by the maid, spoiled girl, I.T. profession, and a lot of land, he's obviously pretty well off with money. I don't think he'll miss the money that he spent for it
If he really wanted to make a point, a binary explosive would have gotten more shock and awe. Either way, his daughter is going to get knocked up by his best friend to pay him back.
Sure, the father is in the right here, but it's a bit over the top IMO. I would have simply taken the laptop and used it for my own purposes tbh.

I make my own bed. I expect that when my children are old enough, that they will make their own as well.
I don't expect my kids to be up at 5am each day either (I sure as am not). They can have that once they join the military or become surgeons if they desire.
Seems to me that her routine was getting to her. Unfortunately she didn't resolve the issue in a constructive manner. But, this was to be expected given her age.
He had every right to do what he did, and good for him. Over the top? My ass. He sent a strict and strong message. It's not about money at this point or him being able to use the laptop for himself. He destroyed the mechanism from which she spewed her spoiled little garbage from and he ended it, no questions asked and no going back, and he put it up for the world to see that parents as a whole should make a frickin stand against these punk ass kids that think they run the household and the world and they don't even know 2 s about the world. Most people opposed are just a Dr. Phil sympathizing feminized horrible example of what's wrong with this country.

He could have given it to goodwill instead, I am sure someone could have used it.
Obviously for him (and you I gather) money is no object. I'd simply treat the situation differently. In both scenarios our daughters wouldn't have their laptops and wouldn't be on Facebook anymore. In my case, I'd have a functional laptop to either sell off or use. Win win.
Although, I guess having a tough guy reputation and thousands of admirers on You-Tube is more appealing to some. Win-win there I'd gather.

we don't know the background, perhaps he tried other things and hoped that a strong/shocking message would wake her up. Then again, maybe not.

The older generation should avoid social networking sites like the plague. Trying to punish your kid using a youtube video and shooting a laptop because she posted drivel on her facebook page says you are unfit to be a parent in the first place. Some kids rebel, that's never changed. You don't get into the tantrum with them. You let them have their tantrum, then when they settle, you show them the list they were supposed to complete.
When she's old enough to be on her own, she can decide for herself, but if she handles her problems how he handles his, that's not going to go well.
You would think an IT guy would find other ways to keep her off the internet.

Guys a psycho and a hypocrite. Mad at her for announcing over facebook and does it himself? That's a way to set an example.
Don't get me wrong, the definitely needed some embarrassment and punishment, but there are plenty of alternative ways to do it privately at home.

That's where you're wrong. It wasn't just for his kid. It shows all kids to stfu and obey and tells parents to nut up. It's not about being a tough guy, it's about being in charge.
No, it's just how he resolved this one. And better yet, I hope he whooped her ass when she got home too on top of that. Would i have shot the laptop up if it were my daughter? More than likely no, but I applaud him for doing so. But my daughter would definitely get a whoopin, and little es in here would complain about that too.
All of this has already happened, and none of it would have happened if he didnt upload a video to youtube.
Punishing his daughter is perfectly sensible and acceptable, acting as immature and stupid as his daughter while shooting her laptop when he coulda just given it to charity makes him look like a potentially abusive parent. When people comment "OMG he's gonna kill her!" on the video multiple times social services has no choice.
What is funny is how much the "These kids have it so easy! When I was her age I had to(insert bull story about the hardass parents someone had as a child)!" people are blowing what his daughter did out of proportion. If the worst thing your daughter ever does is about doing chores on facebook, while she gets good grades and stays out of trouble, then you have nothing to complain about as a parent.
He seems pretty concerned about the $130 dollars he spend to upgrade the PC he made the choice to blow up.
I'm also curious what jobs he expects a 15 year old girl with no car or experience to get.
