Spurs looking good and playing well always great to see outside of the Detroit game spurs have been playing very well.
Figured I'd combine the two since they probably don't deserve a thread each.
I know these rankings don't mean squat but I figured it is still interesting to know when the Spurs get props in the media:

3. Kawhi Leonard
Leonard has played most of his minutes at small forward and a few at power forward. His offensive rebound rate of 8.4 is well above the league average of 5.3, according to Hoopdata.com. On the defensive end, the 6-foot-7 Leonard's size allows him to be a very effective post defender. When players try to post up against Leonard, he holds them to 15.8 percent shooting and allows them to score only 0.458 points per possession. That places Leonard in the 98th percentile of NBA individual post defenders.
When small forwards try to post up Leonard, he does a good job of edging them out of the paint before they catch the ball. Once he's got them there, he's usually too big for them to back down. The result is often Leonard forcing players to shoot quick turnaround jumpers, and outside of Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan, not too many players have looked good taking those shots.

The annual Rodeo Road Trip is generally good to the Spurs, but this one looks like it'll go down as an all-timer. The Spurs figure to be 5-0 before their next tough test Feb. 18 in Clipperland, Duncan has four straight double-doubles after just five in his first 23 games ... and Manu just came back!

And even the Detroit game I thought they played well enough for 3 quarters. Just let their guard down for a bit and the Pistons capitalized.
very true I just hate when spurs blow leads so quickly.![]()
This W8 started right after, Spurs` second unit ridiculed Dallas ?
Yup! Very easily could've been a 10+ winning streak by now![]()
KL isn't in the top 10 on NBA.com's rookie ladder that was released today.
Rankings are mainly driven by total points, turnover rate, efficiency of scoring are ignored, and rebounds are undervalued. It's Yay, Points! but that's not what wins games. Among Rookies, Leonard is second in Wins produced under WP48, first in WP48 amongst players with >200 minutes. I'd say the Grantland/Pruiti rankings are far, far better than the NBA.com rankings.
F'em. We only believe the people who say good things about Spurs. We even believe Hollinger when he does it. And when he doesn't, he's stupid. That's just how we roll around here.
do you guys think he should bulk up something like gerald wallace weight???
I agree with the Spurs power ranking....The Spurs are red-hot right now and are playing well. Our defense has even picked up a notch. I wouldn't look into last night's game soo much. We dominated the first 3 quarters and just let our guard slip in the 4th after being up by like 14 or so. As for KL being the number 3 rookie, I think thats a little too high right now. His minutes have been sporadic as of late so it's difficult to judge.
A few key rookies were excluded from that list because of injuries, so that put him higher than he would have been.
