Having been pregnant 4 times myself, I just can't understand how some women can manage those 70-100 lb weight gains. If you take care of your body when you are NOT pregnant, why let it go when you have a real reason to take care? And where are their doctors? I've never heard of any medical advice that says "Eh, no big deal; if you are pregnant gain as much weight as you possibly can because it's perfectly safe for you and your baby." I know many women struggle with weight issues before they get pregnant, but that alone is a great case for keeping close tabs on the pregnancy weight gain. Maybe there are some kinds of extreme hormonal-metabolic reactions some women have during pregnancy that causes this?

Every pregnant woman knows you don't really need to eat for two, but when you get hungry enough that it actually makes you cry even though you just ate two hours earlier the doctor's warnings about your weight gain mean nothing.
In all seriousness though, a lot of times it's plain old gestational diabetes that causes such huge weight gains, which also causes huge babies and health problems for both.

And I'm talking specifically during pregnancy only; I think people should manage themselves however they please, when they are the only one at risk.....
But I hope Jessica's baby is fine----as we've seen before, Jessica is apparently prone to these weight fluctuations and she'll be looking great soon enough
I agree. I was in the best shape of my entire life the day I gave birth. I never ate so healthy or took such good care of myself ever as when I was pregnant.
