Good riddance

Richard Jefferson's introduction to Golden State has been much more accelerated. Warriors general manager Larry Riley, pressed against the trade deadline, managed to swap Jackson and a draft pick to San Antonio for Jefferson. This was Jefferson's third trade. He rejoined Bogut, once a teammate in Milwaukee. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich alerted him to the trade on a telephone call.
Jefferson will approach the rest of the season like an extended road trip. He told his girlfriend about leaving, packed a couple of bags, and caught a 7 a.m. flight to San Francisco.
"In the NBA, you pay your rent for four months," Jefferson said. "There's not that much stability in what you do. You're not purchasing a home unless you've been in a place for three or four years. When you're in a place, especially when you already have a summer home or you've been with one team, I'm not going to go to San Antonio or San Francisco and just purchase a home."
He played nearly 38 minutes in a loss to Utah two nights after the trade.
"For the most part, it depends on your IQ, and they pretty much give you a simple package," Jefferson said of adjusting quickly to a new team. "It's no different. I've been playing for 11 years. There may be different terminology. I played against the Warriors 20 times. They have to change their offense also. You lose a guy like Monta and there's a set of plays that you're running for him that aren't the same. It's a transition process for everyone."
"If you're in this job long enough, you can't be sensitive," Jefferson continued. "It's not a job for sensitive people. You have to be mentally prepared to play for another team. If you don't handle it well, it will affect your performance. I played for New Jersey for seven years, was ninth in the league in scoring. I got traded that summer after having my best statistical year and dedicated myself and I got traded that summer. The first one hurt. After that you just move on and understand it's a business. Jersey hasn't been the same since."
sigh... i guess i'll the first one to say it. lol "girlfriend."
Been a rough year for her too, after being traded to Cleveland.
One of the happiest days of my life as a Spurs fan
He just isn't Spurs material, even though i have nothing against him. Just not a good fit and Spur material
Goodbye Jefferson. You will be sorely missed.
Good riddance.
I'm sure RJ is a nice guy and a good character in the locker room but he was just such a liability on the court. What Stephen Jackson has done so far is what we wanted out of RJ. Good thing we traded him away finally. You can tell the atmosphere of the team is much better. They finally believe in themselves again.
Most here take it as if Jefferson play badly on purpose, gee. of i course im happier with him gone but stop being so b*tches
took me a while because I forgot he got traded to the Cavs.
Nah, these guys have to take it personally and insult the guy and be bigots.
the obsession continues
I don't see one comment above that even hints that Jefferson played badly on purpose. Go look at his career stats, and see the declines in pretty much everything, except for 3P percentage. I think you'll have your answer to most of the comments about RJ.
Or - go back and look at the comments from the beginning of this season, or the beginning of last season. They were overwhelmingly positive. If RJ had continued to perform on the court, the comments would have continued to be positive. And he would probably still be a Spur.
There are always going to be a few bigots in any crowd. Here or anywhere else. Try not to paint everyone with the same, broad brush. Okay?
Nah it's ok, everyone that rips him always eventually drops to the lowest common denominator.
No doubt. Lamar Odom may be the biggest pussy in the history of sportsdom.
Lamar, you're an NBA star player. You've already banked over $50 million bucks and two les. You've had a great career. Big deal, you got traded (largely due to your own crybabying). Players can get traded. And it's not like you got dumped on Toronto or Cleveland. You went to the defending champs--the same team that wiped out your former team last year.
Any normal man would see this as a great chance to stick it to his former team (even though they don't really even deserve it) for "dissing" him (however imaginary). But instead, he uses it as an opportunity to sulk and cry into his old jersey. If I was Mark Cuban I wouldn't be coddling this chump. I'd wind up with both feet and kick him square in his undersized testicles.
Don't see a problem with what he says, he's spot on and he definitely seems to have his head screwed the right way, he just didn't fit in well. Good luck to him.
RJ just isn't very good at basketball anymore. I don't see him getting another NBA contract. Other than that we all like him.
If this dude has anything bad to say about the Spurs FO he might aswell void that contract.
