He should. Will he? Toss up.
Three NBA championships, one NBA Finals MVP, four NBA All-Star appearances, and one of the greatest international players to ever play the game. Does he get the nod?
He should. Will he? Toss up.
The fact he's a foreigner will help him get in....it's just a good business decision if the NBA wants to continue their globalization campaign.
maybe, but probably not a first ballot HOF
lol...if Bowen got his jersey retired than just imagine what will happen when TP retires. They'll throw a parade and pego will close all the Taco Bells in the greater SA area for a day in his honor.
He hasn't won at the international level though...
oh no, hemann...rest assured there's plenty of pego scoffing to be had by all.
Wgaf? Nobody takes that seriously (except for the Olympics) anyways.
He's won 3 championships in the NBA, has been a top-tier PG for years, and he's still got some good years left, obviously...and he's French (or Belgian, or whatever).
He'll get in.
If he wanted to solidify his place in the HOF he could hang himself. The voters are suckers for giving posthumous accolades
International wins matter for HOF consideration.... that's why no greek will ever be nominated...
Or in a couple of years he could just have a freak accident and get buried under the weight of his 6 LOB trophies that he earned as a spur. Same idea.

crofl, then why don't they just let everybody in?
I'm sure they're getting Marbury's HOF bust ready
Because not everybody wins and dominates at the international level...
What has Marbury done at the international level?
HOF is bulging like an ass, players getting elected there 5yrs after their retirement and none is gonna get removed so maybe in a few years the HOF will contain more players then those currently playing in the league tbh. JJ hickson is a locked HOF'er too btw![]()
There must be quite a list of these international players in the HOF then. This is the entire world we're talking about right? There should be a ton who have won and dominated over the years. Let's see the list.
The list, Nono...there must be a TON of these guys in the HOF
I'd put $1000 on Tony Parker getting into the hall of fame.
Casual fans think you have to be at the level of Dirk/Kobe/Shaq/Duncan to be hall of fame material. The slightly better informed casual fans think you have to be like Dirk/Kobe/Shaq/Duncan or you have to have wide and varied success at both the NBA and international level (Ginobili).
Tony fits neither mold, but he doesn't have to. There are hordes of hall of fame players that haven't had 1/10 the success that someone like Shaq/Kobe/Duncan have had.
If you correct for the fact that Tony has more rings but less individual success, he's a poor man's Joe Dumars in terms of probability of getting into the hall of fame right now.
If Tony had a career ending injury tomorrow, would Tony make it into the HOF? It'd be iffy. I say he'll make it into the HOF with the assumption that he'll have a couple more years of 18/7 as the 1st option on a playoff-bound Spurs team.
The HOF didn't start inducting international players until 1992...
There's currently 9 international players in the HOF, which is about one every two years...
