To be completely honest, I think both Howland and Miller overstepped with a few of their recent classes. Howland was best with the humble, coachable types like Afflalo, Westbrook, Farmar, Collison, Love... He always had talent, but until that 2008 class, he never had quite so many know-it-all types. He started recruiting the more talented players who couldn't care less about the team. Miller is guilty of that too... I think, even with Shabazz, that Howland is back in his area of expertise. By all accounts Anderson and Adams are two very good players with a coachable mindset. Shabazz may be directed by his dad too much, but Shabazz seems open to addressing his flaws. With all the money that would have come his way buying in WWW and Kentucky, he identified that he needed more structure and defense to get better.
I think this year's classes mark the turnaround of the programs. I do. A coach doesn't get to 3 straight Final 4's on accident, nor does he send four 3-star prospects to the NBA without knowing how to coach.
He, like Miller, needs to heed the warning signs. Nelson and Morgon, like Sidiki and Turner, were problems in high school.
I'm not sure I understand why he wants another fatass C, though. He's clearly never had success with them, even ones far more talented or physically gifted than Parker. Guess he figures he's due for a breakthrough.
