Yeah, that's a team that looks better without Kobe Bryant in it.

Bryant definitively takes something away from the teamwork as he ages, but his absence removes a run stopper and a game winner. From what he said on TNT though he is able to see that perspective a bit.

Not tonight. Splitter in 11 minutes ties Bynum (2 each) in first half rebounds who could have predicted that?

4-1 with a potential 4-2 record with Kobe out, including a win at SA. I'd take it.

Kobe can do something the rest of the NBA cannot - shut down both Gasol and Bynum simulataneously with his shot-happy ways. His constant jacking limits the touches of both his big men.

Lakers aren't a better team without Kobe but they would definitely be a better team with Kobe playing a lesser role. Like a 1a/b/c next to Bynum and Gasol.

Lakers are no way in WORSE with Kobe. I will say that Kobe does not play as optimally as he could with that team - if he ever figures it out this year, that team will be VERY scary.

Doubtful he changes his stripes that drastically in his 16th season, however.

Phil Jackson said it best: Coaching Kobe when he's too old but thinks he can do the same things he did when he was younger is gonna be . Seems asinine to suggest considering he's leading the league in scoring right now, but he shouldn't be leading the league in scoring on THAT team.

If just going by the last 5 games without Kobe vs them with Kobe before that time, Id rather have Kobe in the lineup in a 7 game series. Chances are he would jack up contested shots all day and negate the effectiveness of their front line.

I could live with Kobe being hot for 3 games out of 7 if he continues the trend of chucker and going 8 for 28 or something like that. Pop would just need to tell the guys to dare him to shoot heavily contested shots and make sure to box out effectively so we could get the rebound when he misses.
