Theyll probably give the Spurs this season regardless, just with an asterisk signifying the shortened season. Would be pretty cool if that 50 win streak was kept alive without a need for the asterisk though. Hopefully our bench can get it done.![]()
Of all the incredible streaks the Spurs organization has had over the years, fans of the team no doubt take the most pride in the streak of consecutive 50 win seasons that ranks as one of the most impressive feats in NBA regular season history. It shows a sustained excellence by our organization that can't be topped in any of the four major North American sports.
If we win our last two, the list of consecutive 50 win seasons will look like this:
San Antonio: 13
Chicago: 2 (if they win their last two)
That's it.
Remaining games:
At PHX
At GS
Phoenix is coming off a deflating loss against the Jazz that should take the wind out of their sails for their regular season finale. I could see them coming home and Steve Nash giving the crowd one last hoorah as a Sun, but as a whole our team should be favored to win this, considering we know some, if not all, of the big three will get limited minutes in order to keep their rhythm for playoffs
GS is tanking hard. Even against our backups, we should be heavily favored.
Let's get these last two guys.

Spurs can do this without giving the Big Three much minutes ... lets do it
Suns are playing for a winning season.
They might play all out to show Steve the team still has promise, although it's obvious they don't. Also a last goodbye to the fans for the season and maybe permanently for Nash, so they will go all out.
If the Suns had anything to show, they should have showed last night against the Jazz. I don't think they give a about the game against the Spurs.
If we can play the BIG 3 limited minutes both games and try to win it all, i would be ok with it.
Strive for 50 mother ers!!! Would love to nail down another 50 win season for the record books.
50 wins is nothing for the Spurs to play for. It's only something for fans to slobber over.
Remember it would have been 14 but they played only 50 games in 99, but had 70% winning percentage, which is close to 60 wins in 82 game slate.
If one of the worst posters in the forum thinks the Spurs should go for 50, then you know the right move is to rest the Big 3.
Think about this:
50 wins
5 rings.
There is something almost zen like there.

I don't know that the streak is the thing that Spurs fans take the most pride in ("fans of the team no doubt take the most pride in the streak of consecutive 50 win seasons"), but the streak is a tell-tale of the sustained success that we've enjoyed. And with that, even if the number isn't 50 this year, they've clinched still another season winning 60% of their games -- that's part of the significance of winning 50; if you win 49, your winning percentage is under .600.
Part of me would love to see them get to 50, but I can't see any way that chasing that number for the sake of getting that number isn't a silly decision.
I don't i could possibly care less about 50 wins. All I care about is 5 rings.
And if any one of the Big 3 suffers an injury tonight, then you can kiss that goodbye as well.
I don't want to see the Big 3 play the last 2 games but if the bench can get us to 50 thats great.
The injury fear is chicken .
An injury could occur in the first qtr of Game1.
Big3 can't be tired.
They've not been pushed to play intensely in the last few days, and their minutes are way down.
If Bulls lose @IND (IND = 8-2 in Last10), then Spurs have a chance for HCA in the Finals by winning these last 2 games vs weak teams.
Exactly...
I'm glad you learned from last year.
I don't give a about 50, and I barely give a about beating out the Bulls cuz there's no way they make it to the finals, but imo you always play to win, and if they lose against indy tonight you might as well go for it against GS
what a stupid worthless ing streak that 50 win .
hope that streak dies ASAP
this is pretty much verbatim of what people were saying last year before the final regular season game.
The cir stances are eerily similar tbh:
-Spurs resting guys all year long but still have the 1st seed.
-HCA wrapped up against everybody except the Bulls, which is moot because CHI isn't getting past Miami.
-Playing @ PHX against a Suns team that has nothing to play for
-Pop managing minutes all season long and stressing health > everything.
Only to risk it all on a meaningless regular season game. Please no injuries.
Last year was totally different. The Spurs were stinking up the gym the last 3 weeks of the season and they needed to finish with a big win their last game to try to get some kind of mojo back before game 1 of the playoffs. That was why Pop had Manu in a "meaningless" game.
This year, the team is clicking on all cylinders and they can afford to cruise into playoffs. I do not think TD needs to play in either game, but Manu needs to, because he is rounding into shape and needs the extra PT.
they're going to get it easily even without the big 3. The Suns are already destroyed from their recent result at Utah. GS is tanking beyond recognition
The only reason to play the big 3 is to maintain rhythm going into the playoffs.
