TSA defends pat-down of 4-year-old at Kan. airport

Croft said that for the first few nights after coming home, Isabelle had nightmares and talked about kidnappers. She said TSA agents had shouted at the girl, telling her to calm down and saying the suspect wasn't cooperating.

heard on the radio that TSA caused a doctor and his cerebral palsy, braced-up 7-year-old daughter to miss their plane so they could inspect her thoroughly.

Defended it saying just "following procedures", like ing robots (that's an insult to robots).

Yep, ever since we allowed things like zero tolerance policies, it proved the population was too stupid as a whole to see this authoritarianism spread.

Diabetic teen upset with TSA screeners at Salt Lake City Airport

"Savannah Barry, a Colorado teenager, was returning home from a conference in Salt Lake City. She is a diabetic and wears an insulin pump to control her insulin levels 24/7. She carries do entation of her condition to assist screeners, who usually give her a pat-down search. This time the screeners listened to her story, read her doctor's letter, and forced her to go through a millimeter-wave body scanner anyway. The insulin pump stopped working correctly, and of course, she was subjected to an invasive manual search. 'My life is pretty much in their hands when I go through a body scan with my insulin pump on,' she says. She wants TSA screeners to have more training. Was this a predictable outcome, considering that no one outside TSA has access to millimeter-wave scanners for testing? Would oversight from the FDA or FCC prevent similar incidents from happening in the future?"

Sounds like the girl threw a temper tantrum and grandma was being grandma. TSA was doing there job. I hope the parents/grandma teach the toddler that carrying on this way only makes matters worse. God bless

TSA agents that are thoroughly trained were doing their jobs. They search over a million people everyday. That includes people of all ages. This one threw a tantrum. You refer to these professionals as fat men groping a child. Gotcha. God bless

If they're trained to grope 4 years olds then the training needs to change.

And apparently they're not trained thoroughly enough to know they'll damage a $10K insulin pump a person's life depends on if forced to go through a scanner...

I'm surprised jack. I though you had a lot less faith in government. Your god apparently has changed you.

I can't take you seriously and I doubt you take yourself serious. You are demeaning an entire profession because one 4 year old had a tantrum. They are trained to search not grop. There is no if.

Our court systems are full of lawsuits with all sorts of professions being questioned on their professions. Doctors, lawyers, politicians, firemen, police, TSA, teachers, etc..... People make mistakes. I pray you will always hold yourself to this unattainable high standard you set for others.

Don't be surprised, you don't know me. I have plenty of faith. I'll pray for you tonight. God bless

The Transportation Security Administration has only been around for ten years -- the presumption that it deserves the kind of respect and prestige reflexively accorded to doctors, firemen and the police, is overblown, and surely premature.

I'm questioning the entire rationale that dictates a 4 year old could be an alleged terrerist and requires groping. I don't care how you call it, when a complete stranger puts their hands on the kid's balls, it's called groping.

We don't even know the TSA methods work or are necessary at all, there's no way you can compare them with centuries-old professions.

As a matter of fact, a country like Israel, who has been dealing with this much longer than we have and with much higher risk, doesn't do any of this, yet are as successful at it.

You should start to care considering you are trashing an entire profession for doing their job.

    Grope not in TSA handbook
    1. To make (one's way) by reaching about uncertainly.
    2. Slang To handle or fondle for sexual pleasure.

    Search is in TSA handbook

To examine in order to find something lost or concealed.
To examine the person or personal effects of in order to find something lost or concealed.

    God bless and good day

I have no problem trashing "professional" child molesters. I also question the legalization of that alleged profession, and the benefits such groping provide towards airline security, which happens to be the ultimate goal.

The bible doesn't advocate/support child molestation either. That hasn't prevented priests from molesting children, has it?

You're dealing with complete strangers, you don't know what they're thinking.
And the bottom line is that it's very questionable any added safety is obtained through groping minors.

what exactly did they up with on 9/11?

if memory serves me correctly, box cutters were allowed on planes by the government.

What goes without saying, goes without saying.

A craven and timorous US public clamored for vengeance from behind their computer monitors, not minding the toll, paid in various quaint Anglo-American liberties, such as various of the ones detailed in the US Cons ution, for the mere promise of better security. The cost has been unprecedented, in dollars and liberty -- for what?

The hollow boast that we were kept safe?

    So called peace of mind?
