I would HARDLY call this thread POINTLESS!! I would like to thank the city of San Antonio for giving the Pistons even EXTRA incentive to go out and play hard and for some locker room bulletin material!

Why? What did the City of San Antonio do exactly?

The city gave the Pistons bulletin board material. They scheduled the championship parade for Thursday (the day of Game 7) assuming the SPUDS were going to win Game 6.

It is similar to the ring sizing that was going on in the SPURS locker room after they won game 5 (all except Popovich).

    they did a ring sizing?

Not literally, consider it a metaphor.

The tone of many of SPURS players after the 1 pt. Horry victory after game 5 was such that the series was basically over and the SPURS just had to go home and closing it out for the SPURS was inevitable. POPOVICH wouldn't even go there when a reporter asked him a question that assumed the inevitability of SPURS being three time champs. He totally ignored the question.

The Spurs lack pressure players. Nobody is proving that more true than Dunkin and Parks. Game seven will have Dunkin shooting airballs from the free throw line. Parker will be passing the ball to the coach. Im giving Ginobli a pass because he has never played is a pressure game like this!

I just don't get the at udes from this city. Wins expected. Even on the TV, just a total disrespect from the fans towards any team. Unbelievable..

Umm yes he has, for the Gold Medal in the olympics and also in the game 5 (best of 5) for the Arentina basketball championship. He is no stranger to adversity and pressure games.

Yes, Popovich was quite clearly understanding the series wasn't over. After game 5 the tone, however, of many of the SPURS was that the series was bascially over. Hence, the ring sizing metaphor.

This isn't the Olympics, and if it was even close to the Olympics their Center could shoot free throws!

Sorry....im not buying the parade thing. There was no announcement in any local media about a parade (at least not that I saw). How does Larry Brown know this and the rest of the city doesn't? Although it was a smart move and I would have done the same in his shoes.

Hulkarock with more ignorant blanket statements....go figure.

Prove this. You were not in the locker room with the team therefore you could not know. You may have interpreted that but because you may think it...it does not make it so.

Of course they scheduled the parade. There is a LOT of planning that goes into these things. The Spurs had just as much of a chance of winning as the Pistons. I don't think it was out of line to plan the parade.
I'm sure Detroit is doing planning right now as well, just in case. Get over it.
We know there's going to be a parade somewhere.

So after the series is over and we are holding a street party in Detroit you'll have that to hang your hat on. 'Wreck only showed up after a win!'

This was why I asked - I didn't see anything mentioned OFFICIALLY about a parade scheduled for Thursday. All I heard was rumor-mill stuff. But like you said, Brown went with it.

no...I will give the Pistons credit where it is due. Something you won't do if the Spurs win.

It just proves you are a coward.

As far as I know that was totally fabricated bulletin board material. I never saw anything about the parade being scheduled for Thursday.

'll remain a Spurs fan forever, no matter what. The "no matter what" includes a lot of sh.. I'm taking up here in Maryland for the ridiculous parade bulletin board material, Duncan not showing up at critical moments, TP passing the ball to the guy in civvies sitting behind the basket, turnovers, turnovers, etc. Now I read that the Spurs fans sitting there are mostly in corporate business suits ordering sushi.

About Duncan, he has never said he should be compared with Bird, Magic, Jordan, etc. We did. We all did. Perhaps he knows what he is talking about.

Man, where are the baseline bums? Are they all retired, dead, or what?

Announcing a parade before game 6 started was small town mentality, and all it did was provide bulletin board material for Brown and the Pistons.

I can not believe that a city the size of San Antonio would even do such a thing, it makes SA look like the hick town that it really is. They used to do that in the 70's and 80's, and I see that they still act like rubes from the deep woods even after they became the 9th largest city in the USA. I do not blame the Piston fans from mocking this total amateurish behaviour.
