Son, we live in a world that has basketball courts, and those courts have to be defended by men with game. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Mike D'Antoni? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Nash, and you curse the Spurs. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know - that Nash's failure, while tragic, possibly saved Larry O'Brien trophies. And that my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves trophies. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about in locker rooms, you want me on that sideline, you need me on that sideline. We use words like championships, wins and rings. We use these words as the backbone of a life defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who coaches and teaches under the very blanket of conference superiority that I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you make the NBA Finals, and stand a sideline. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are en led to.
