After Miami's loss and Spurs' win last night, the Spurs are now the favourites to win it all...With the bookmakers at least.

    San Antonio Spurs 15/8
    Oklahoma City Thunder 2/1
    Miami Heat 10/3
    Boston Celtics 17/2
    Indiana Pacers 12/1
    Los Angeles Lakers 33/1
    Philadelphia 76ers 50/1
    Los Angeles Clippers 150/1

Seems like the Spurs are getting some credit where it really matters....Money

Glad I saw the light early(ish) and stuck $100 on the Spurs at 3/1 just to win the West a few weeks before the playoffs. Earn me some beer tokens please Spurs

That's crazy. The Heat lost Bosh, splitted games in Miami, the Pacers win at home comfortably the next game and the Heat are still in front if the Pacers to win it all. It just doesn't make sense. I mean, how are they going to win if they get eliminated in the second round!?

There's already a lot of money riding on the Heat, so the odds on them are always going to be a bit conservative. The odds on the Heat would probably be different if they were taking the first bets today.

I'm just gutted I missed out on the 16/1 for the Spurs to win the West and 32/1 to win the Championship at the start of the season. I was really tempted by the 16/1 but I don't like season long bets that take months before you see any return on your money. I was looking to put a bet on the Pacers to defeat the Heat in their series, but my bookie won't give any odds for it (but they do give odds for all other 3 series...presumably they're waiting for news on the Bosh injury)

    Odds to win the East:
    Miami Heat 5/4
    Boston Celtics 13/8
    Indiana Pacers 3/1
    Philadelphia 76ers 16/1

Pacers at 3/1 doesn't look a bad bet. They'd probably struggle against a team like the Celtics in the Final though.

    From the start of what?

For a large part of the season, Blair and RJ were still starting for us. Do you really think we'd still be in the same position if that were still the case?

They were on Hollinger's power rankings actually. Here's the pre-playoffs end of season odds from Hollinger's calculations:

    http://espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/playoffodds

They had Spurs at 34.3%, more than double any other team in the NBA. Bulls and Thunder were just over 15%, and Miami was actually just under 10%.

Indiana and Boston were the two "dark horse" teams. It looks pretty accurate when you look at it now, except for the Bulls flaming out due to Rose's knee injury. Though I'd probably put some of those wasted Bulls odds on OKC now. If they can beat SA I think they'll win the le against whatever weak team comes out of the east. Big if though.

The WCF will be the real Finals imo.

Great odds wish I was in Vegas as if Chicago, Heat, Lakers or Thunder had won 16 in a row the relatively small payout on a successful bet would be even smaller as all the money would be pouring in shifting the odds. Still Vegas might be nervous about some big payoffs on the Spurs from earlier in the year

Vogel has been doing an excellent job keeping his team mentally prepared. Look at what happened to the Sixers after they split in Boston. He knows his team needs to maintain their edge if they're going to win.

If those numbers are correct, it would appear OKC is still the favorite to win it all, with the Spurs right behind them. How do I figure this? Well 15/8 is less than 2. Very close though.

I made a 20$ futures bet on the Spurs right after the Boris Diaw acquisition. The odds were 15-1. Looks like a great bet now even though my friends were telling me I had no shot at winning.

    ...

The fact that 15/8 (1.875) is less than 2 means the Spurs are favored over OKC (2.0), over the Heat (3.33), over the Celtics (8.5), Pacers (12.0), Clippers (150.0), etc. etc.
