I read Georgia Tech and FSU coming too.
No idea how legit this guy is but wouldn't be a huge surprise.Cory Fravel @CoryFravel
My sources confirm an agreement in principle has been reached for Clemson to join the Big12.
I read Georgia Tech and FSU coming too.
Ga Tech unlikley to come because of academic reasons.
wow, props to the B12 commish, from the brink of extinction to the #2 power conference in just a few months.
also
LOL Pittsburgh and Syracuse![]()
You mean they don't live up to the high academic standards of the Big ()?
I seen multiple sources that clemson and FSU were a package deal..So many different scenarios, but still fun follow i guess..
"Big 12 Expansion: Florida State, Notre Dame, Clemson Moves Not Imminent"
http://dallas.sbnation.com/texas-lon...s-not-imminent
I can see Notre Dame joining the Big 10 long before joining the Big 12
Notre Dame will go to whichever conference will give them the most demands they are requesting.
At this point it could be any confernce sans the Big East and SEC, but more likely the Big 12 or Big 10.
So possible 2013 big 12 divisions: WEST/EAST
UT WVU
TCU FSU
TT CLEMSON
BAYLOR KU
OU KSU
OSU ISU
TCU being in the DFW metroplex is probably the smart team to put out East as it makes the long travel much easier and cheaper.
BU, ISU, KSU, TT, and OSU for travel purposes need to stay in the West
KU, blOwU, and Texas are in or very near bigger cities and travel to those cities is cheap enough that it makes sense for those schools to be put in the East.
Of course the question is do you try to balance the two divisions or do you make your decision based on cost of travel?
If Cost, then you move TCU, Texas, and KU to the East along with WVU, Clemson, and FSU. with the other side being blOwU and the 5 dwarfs
Yes, it's much easier for TCU to travel to Clemson, West Virginia and Florida than to Waco, Lubbock or Austin.
It's not about TCU travel, it's about travel for the new members.
What is easier, Clemson to travel to DFW or Ames Iowa, or Manhatten KS, or Stillwater OK.
DFW is a travel hub and for all the east schools it's much easier to get to TCU and easier for TCU to get to them than it is for ISU to get to Clemson, or Talahassee, or Morgan Town.
Won't happen. All the Texas teams will stay in the same division.
especially if the league goes to 16 by adding Miami and Notre Dame for example. I think it's obvious that all expansion from here on out will come east of Texas.
Right now the talk is 12, hold for a few years, then add 2 to 4 more.
If the Big 12 stops at 12 it then makes sense to move TCU to the East, when they add the others then it makes sense to move TCU back and keep all the Texas schools together.
I think your right about the total of 12 for the near future, but if the right set of schools (say VT, miami, fsu, clemson) all group themselves together then you almost have to make the jump to 14 right now. ND seems to be the wild card in all of this but I just cant see them jumping into a league anytime soon...
VT will end up in the SEC when this is all said and done.
Right now there is no official talk of adding any teams at all.
UT has made it clear they like the league with 10 teams.
I think when it's said and done, I think there will be 4 superconferences
I think so to.
I agree with blake about the 4 superconferences and if the B12 does manage to poach Clemson and FSU that pretty much ends the debate between the B12 and the ACC about who would be the 4th. The SEC would certainly see that as an opportunity to try and get into the North Carolina and Virginia markets.
Ya, no official talk, wink, wink....There have clearly been some comminication between the big 12 and acc schools off the record. I think at this point its not about adding teams, its about how many.
What Big12 rep do you think has talked to Florida St and/or Clemson
Doesnt matter...All I am saying is that if you think no one has talked between the ACC schools (whether talks started by acc schools or big 12 schools, doesnt matter) and big 12 schools you are fooling yourself. You dont come to the conclusion of moving a school out of a conference in short order. Did you not learn nothing from the mizzou and atm defections from big 12?
it does matter.
When ADs and school presidents are shooting down rumors of having talked then either they are flat lying or there is someone else.
if they have talked, it really should be easy to figure out who has done the talking...All I am saying is that if you think no one has talked between the ACC schools (whether talks started by acc schools or big 12 schools, doesnt matter) and big 12 schools you are fooling yourself. You dont come to the conclusion of moving a school out of a conference in short order. Did you not learn nothing from the mizzou and atm defections from big 12?
Just spit out some names of who you think it might be.
There has been no official talk at all about adding teams to the Big-12. Talk about a premature ejaculation thread...![]()
