Giving Jefferson the boot is one of the main reasons, imo.
Since acquiring Boris Diaw the Spurs are a ridiculous 25-2. Tim, tony, and Manu did not play in the Utah loss, and the only other loss being to the Lakers with Blair starting.
If you throw out those two games, which you reasonably can.. the Spurs havent actually lost a game since acquiring Diaw..
Is HE the real reason to the spurs incredible run???
Steven Jackson was also huge for us, but i think we are seeing an completely different Spurs team after Diaws acquistion.
Giving Jefferson the boot is one of the main reasons, imo.
A lot more of it has to do with replacing Blair with Diaw, but I do agree that he was terrible.
We would have lost a few games here and there had we just traded for a marginal player that wouldnt fit into the system as well as Diaw does.
*I realize it wasnt a trade jefferson for diaw.
Diaw can be a game changer when he's motivated.
Diaw is a major factor. Jax even though his numbers have dropped as of late has brung a mental toughness and swagger that seems to be infectious. Even when he's not scoring he's affecting the game in some manner.
Diaw its getting paid in wins at his request when acquired from the Bobcats.
Being out of an infinite hole will make you play better, no doubt.
It's not just Diaw. Pop has changed the rotation so the best players and best defenders are playing. In the past we used to outscore teams. Now we're actually playing really good defense.
I agree its not just Diaw.. I just think that he was the last piece of the puzzle we needed for a championship team. We are actually set up to have a really ing good team next year..possibly a chance to repeat this incredible run?
