Durant’s destruction of Parker should’ve been the lone storyline. It wasn’t. Joe Crawford, Bill Kennedy and Randy Mott took over the fourth quarter with their whistles. They called five fouls on the Spurs in less than four minutes, putting the Thunder in the bonus with 8:19 to play. On a night when both teams looked for shots in the paint, the Thunder shot 31 free throws and the Spurs attempted 18.OKC outplayed San Antonio and deserved the victory. But the officiating was horrendous. Given Joe Crawford’s well-do ented history with Tim Duncan, it's incredulous that Crawford is assigned to Spurs games.

At least someone is speaking the truth. The Spurs did not play well in the 2nd half and were not well coached but the final outcome in what was a close game except for the bizzaro calls, was and will always be marred by officiating that made at least my 14 year old son ballistic, and should be called out more by the major media - thank you, Jason Whitlock!

You can only play as well as the referees allow you to.

The Thunder were allowed to play much harder on the defensive end and the refs swallowed their whistles. Thats as much a reason for the 2nd half collapse as anything

It sucks about the calls, the officiating was bad but giving up an 18 point lead and losing but 8 is worse.

Good teams like the Thunder make runs and the thing is we will never know if the Spurs would have beat them in a fairly called game but it would have been a much more compe ive and interesting game at the end.
Spurs lost at least 6 points through outright bogus calls, and Thunder were given at least 10 so one can do your own math.

Officiating sucked, but that's life. Can't control everything. If the Spurs had played the second half like they did the first, the Refs would have been powerless to dictate the outcome.

OKC was still the better team but the refs just had to mess that up, huh?

    false

how could the spurs play like they did in the first when the refs were getting in their way. play is dictated by the calls, throughout the entire game. it effects a teams play in every way when the calls are biased to intentionally slow a team down

By the time the refs started their act, the game was pretty much over.

If anything, the refs just tainted an OKC victory that was going to happen anyway.

Sorry, Joey, but you were just diddling a dead well, you know . . . (hope this doesn't hit too close to home, Joey).

Refs can control a game in other ways than making bad foul calls."No-calls" can be devastating to a team's rhythm and setup.

I remember one time where Parker was circling down along the baseline and one of the OKC players gave him a hip that knocked him off his feet and out of the playing floor. No call.

Lots of fouls by use of hard hacking by OKC against our guys and some turned into TOs==but no calls.

The NBA will admit the refs made some mistakes in that game, then they will move on to talking about the Finals, because no one gives a .
