Now that these finals are going to be a ratings bonanza as opposed to the death it would have suffered at the hands of the Spurs, can anybody with knowledge outside of Basketball tell me of any teams in other sports that would kill television ratings as much as the Spurs would have for the NBA or are the Spurs the worst?

I'm being serious, I really wanna know.

    The Lakers or Suns?

Game 6 of the Spurs/Thunder NBA Western Conference Finals drew a 7.1 overnight rating on TNT Wednesday night, up 22% from Lakers/Suns Game 6 in 2010 (5.8). There was no comparable game last year.

Well, if truly small-market teams ever made it to the World Series anymore, that might have the same effect. Been a good 20 years since that's happened though. Close geographical matchups could lose a lot of audience from sections of the country not represented. Cards/Tigers is probably a good example. Something like Brewers/Royals could be a worst-case scenario.

I would also think a team from Edmonton or Winnipeg would be a ratings disaster for the already ratings-challenged NHL
