Actually, it's not the same year, but the same season. And I'm not sure about the season too, because the Olympics were part of the last season.

But you could say, players to win the Olympics gold medal and NBA Ring in less than 12 months.

People keep saying that, but's it's completely wrong.

Bill Russell won a gold medal in 1956 in college and then the NBA championship consecutively in the 1956-1957 season. Because they didn't let NBA players in the Olympics that was the only way it could be done back then. Not only that, but since Russell had one and only one shot to do it, so I consider his accomplishment more impressive than the other three.

I really don't care what you consider, tha fact is the only ones to win an OLYMPIC medal AND an NBA CHAMPIONSHIP in the same year are MJ, Scottie and now Manu, case closed! Russel was one of the greatest players of all time, but he didn't do this!

WTF are you talking about? Russell did EXACTLY the same thing that Manu did! Do you understand how much of an ass you just made out of yourself?

Y'all, sometimes the stats are wrong. All 'Sug is saying is that Russell did it also.

Doesn't take anything away from what Manu did, that's still some pretty amazing company to be in.

I thought K.C. Jones might have done it-- he was Russell teammate at USF and then also went to the Celtics, but he spent two years in the military before joining Boston.

I dunno who else could have done it.

The fifth player (according to Latin America ESPN) was Mel Counts back in 1965 with the Celtics.
