They can't coexist. Kobe's going nowhere so Bynum has got to go. Otherwise the Lakers are destined for mediocrity for the balance of Kobe's remaining decent years. An offense dominated by Kobe will not stand for an overgrown baby giant ball-hog jacking up threes. That would be self-destructive.

Right, two ball hogs can't co-exist.

I believe that without the Bynum factor, they could be contenders again given a couple of complimentary pieces.

Trading Bynum for role players will turn the Lakers into contenders???

Bynum might not stay with LAL for the last few years Kobe is here. Tbh, it might be a good idea to think about moving him before it's an issue next summer. Problem is, Dwight is the closest thing that can currently replace him.

Dwight is on Kobe's nuts, he can tolerate another 2 years until he takes the wheel. I doubt D12 will be in LAL ever, but it's really the best case scenario.

The Lakers would be better if they got rid of Bryant.

Getting rid of Kobe is not the answer as much as I hate the foo. He is one of the greatest ever. Trade bynum's Immature , injury prone aaa instead.

IMO, the idea is correct. Getting rid of Bynum would improve the Lakers. Why? It would let them go back to letting the most efficient scorer, due to the variety of his skills, on their current roster move up to taking the 2nd most attempts.

Yep, letting Pau work is a good thing... Despite all the crap Laker Fan has said about the man, he can still execute the offense (neither Bynum nor Kobe really likes the triangle), doesn't get chuck happy (Kobe anyone), and can pass out of a double team(this one's on Bynum). When the team was willing to let him have enough touches to be the MVP for them, they contended... Particularly because he's mature enough (and wants to win enough) to let Kobe ball-hog, while making him effective by executing the offense.

They don't need to get rid of Bynum. They need to get a coach and GM and let those guys run the team. So when Bynum isn't in the huddle, he's told to hit the showers and doesn't come in for the rest of the game, and the team fines him 50K for it.

These guys are employees. They need to be treated as such.

Kobe is closer to done than you think, bro. He's directly responsible for the Lakers' playoff exit this year.

lakers will be better if kobe accepts a new role as a step up shooter, kobe can still help his team but that's definitely not by the way he currently plays

Dwight would coexist even worse with Kobe than Bynum, tbh... it'd be one trainwreck of a year and then Dwight would leave...
