sons so we all know the story back in 2008 when current San Antonio Silver Star and South Dakota born Becky Hammon wasn't good enough to make the U.S. team roster so out of bitterness she sold out her country to play for Russia. she had the owner of the Russian women's basketball team that she plays for (who was a multimillionaire mobster that was shot to death in a drive by a couple of years ago) rush her into Russian citizenship so that she could play for them. well now she is doing it again because she wasn't good enough to make the U.S. team.
Becky Hammon is once again playing for Russia. She created a stir in 2008 when she first played for them in the Beijing Olympics. The South Dakota-born star became a Russian citizen and under FIBA rules was allowed to compete for the country. She helped guide that team to a bronze medal. She expects a lot less fanfare this time around.
"It's old news," Hammon said about her decision to play for Russia.

Son a better topic of discussion would be for you to break it down for us what went down that day. How did you approach her? What was her response? All I remember is you getting rejected, either finding out or falsely proclaiming her to be a lesbian, and being butthurt ever since. How did you even get to meet Becky. Sons discuss.

One of the most disgraceful things a US citizen can do IMHO. Imagine the media outrage if this was a male athlete like Tim Duncan(since he isn't good enough for Team USA anymore) or Devin Brown.
i think once u elect to rep a country, then u must rep that country, i dont think you can jump around rep other countries...
The headline would probably be: "6 foot 11 inch basketball player born outside of the US to play for a country not named the USA"
similar story happened to kaman as well but no one gives a about him playing for germany, so it doesn't matter if the player is male or female, or something between these two. it's just the general prejudice against sexuality IMHO

Who gives a ? She didn't ditch the team to play for Russia, the US team didn't want her, so she played for someone else. By that logic, if some scrub dumps a chick, you're saying she's betraying him by banging another dude after the fact. Gtfo with that jealous logic.
Any unwanted players can go play for any country, and I won't give a . I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.
Also, they don't even get paid to play for Team USA, so there's no reason to feel like they should be loyal. All her previous time spent has been for free.
And don't give me this about "she's allowed to live here". She pays her taxes. Taxes = your fee to live here. lol@ patriotism being used as a harness for free labor and as an excuse to bash people for playing for free somewhere else where she's more wanted.
