Marion's 20 lbs heavier and a lot stronger?
How come a 6'7" 235 lb Shawn Marion has had a few double double seasons (2001, 2005, 2006, 2008) yet a 6'10" 215 lb Kevin Durant has only an 8.0 rpg season?
Marion has never had a worse TRB% rating than 11.5 whilst Durant's best TRB% rating is 11.8.
Rebounding takes heart & hustle when you're not 7ft. That's why people Barkley were so good at it - heart & hustle. It also helps being more athletic, but height isn't a very big factor.
marion's game was all about doing the dirty work..hustling, rebounding, and playing defense is what made him good. he never had to worry about carrying a team on his back offensively, allowing him to focus his energy on rebounding. 8 rebounds is pretty good for a SF who also happens to be the best offensive player in the NBA.
some of NBA's baddest ass rebounders are actually rather short imho, e.g. chuck hayes who averages more rebounds than most 6'10ers, while it's a real shame for some others who're about 7'0 tall but struggles to grab a rebound, brk L
pez
DeJuan Blair at 6'7" and no knees averages more rebounds per 36 than Brk Lolpez.
Marion can jump a lot, very quickly several times.
this. that 2nd jump is pretty fast from him.
If Marion could hit from half court like Durant, he would never need to be standing that close to the rim. At the other end, he's just waiting for the ball.
How good of a player would Marion be if he took the time to stop being a lazy n!gger and develop a midrange game/shooting form +average handles?
marion got a good shooting hand with which he can cast the ball in the way no one else could, problem is when he gets the ball outside of the colored rectangular and shoots the ball with double hands, the releasing point of the ball was so low it's easily getting blocked. dude has no idea how to release the ball somewhere above his shoulders and hit the target imho
