yo! you guys were able to help me get an awesome laptop in my other thread.

This time my wife also needs a new Desktop for our business. This time im really looking for a fast desktop as i will be uploading and downloading items while working.

Now based on the laptop thread, i got an i5. Im assuming i should be getting a i7 for the desktop. Im checking out costco and noticed the max memory is 8mb....isnt there 16mb now or is that overboard?

anyways here's something that seems affordable:

    http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...6671&N=4047237 4294899849 4294899772&Mo=3&pos=2&No=2&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&Ns= P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&lang=en-US&Sp=C&ec=BC-EC5-Cat84&topnav=

I was gonna build one in a couple of weeks and I had a good I5 priced out but I too think I would rather just go with an I7. I was going to build one, but I found this one online and for 699 I think I might pick it up. That I7 processor is 300+ on its own.

thats not bad...but the kicker for me is that with costco...for $50 more i get 8gb and i get a 23 inch screen....seems like costco is hard to beat with the bundle.

Man I would buy that lol. I built mine running a AMD Phenom 2, 6-core. I kinda wish I went with an i7 to save some pennies. If it has 4 DIMM slots there should be 2 of them empty to add Memory

Looks good, but I am partial to the Antec 300, tho it is about $25 more:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129180

I think you'll be pretty happy with onboard GFX as long as you don't game much, or until they put cards on sale.

just realized you were using a micro.

im assuming you dont want to spend $200

    so

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131786

    else

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131830

with the z77 and a decent heat sink you can get it to push 5GHz easily.

So I think this is what I'm going to go with. Went back to the i5 because nothing I use on a regular basis will get more out of that i7 so I really don't see the point of spending an extra 130 on it.

I will be overclocking this baby. No GPU right now as I don't game and I think the new integrated GPU on the Ivy Bridge will easily handle Arc rendering.

Z77 definitely is the way to go just coz you get PCI Express 3.0... I bought a GIGABYTE Z77 a month ago and I'm quite please with it...

I can also vouch for Ivy Bridge... I didn't get a K version because I don't overclock, but they're solid processors and fast as ...

Which GB board did you buy? I was looking at this one:

Actually the one I linked above is not the one I selected. I was picking between that GB and this Biostar:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138355

For now, I decided on the Biostar but I'm not ordering for another week so I could end up flip flopping.

That's the one. Z77-D3H... It's nice. PCI Express 3.0 and also supports Intel Smart Response... Although most Z77 mobos are fairly similar. This was an office build, so I didn't need CrossFire or anything.

Running a i5-3550 with stock cooler.

damn, according to passmark, the i7 3770t gets about 90% the performance of the regular 3770, but it only uses 45 watts!

gonna have to start saving up for a new mini-ITX build
