Food shortages? Please. They would just clone . Problem solved.
That just opens a new can of worms. A new process takes many decades to figure out whether it is safe or not. Not really the best alternative if you want to find a permanent solution.
Actually, the problem seems to be the droughts, not the animals... sounds kind of absurd in a world 70% covered by water...
It's the guardian so there is an automatic belief that the droughts are caused by global warming and will continue to get worse.
A better, or at least more certain, article would have focused on the decline of the ocean fisheries. Something that is sure to happen with or without global warming.
Just eat vegetarians.
protein, an American obsession, from factory mammals fed perversely, esp cows, is well known to be extremely inefficient, taking tons of water and grain to produce the protein.
with water and therefore irrigated grains becoming more scarce, the cost of mammal protein will only rise, along with oil-based fertilizers.
Not even mentioning the tons of chemicals dumped on crops and tons of synthetic put into animals.
BigAg and BigChem, two of good health's worst enemies.

Maybe if we stopped producing so much subsidized ethanol...
aka, Repug corporate welfare. Why do Repugs support corporate (randian) moochers?
The battle to feed all of humanity is over. In the 1970s hundreds of millions of people will starve to death in spite of any crash programs embarked upon now. At this late date nothing can prevent a substantial increase in the world death rate.

You tell me. They aren't campaigning against it.
Don't turn your back on Science they are spending Billions of dollars helping us survive by exploring Mars.
and Lavegetarians would be then short of food and starve to death, we LaVegetarians always at the lowest end of the food chain![]()
