Yeah, I've been watching this through the lens of the factory riots and vandalism of Panasonic and Toyota plants. Unsettling to say the least.

Executive summary:
A bunch of dinky islands with no inhabitants, but sitting on large amounts of hydrocarbons are the focal point between China and Japan.
Chinese nationalism and hatred towards Japan for its past war crimes (people are still dying to this day from the biological weapons used by the Japanese on Chinese populations), is being fueled and focused on Japan.
Nationalist Chinese zealots are moving fishing vessels to the area, Japan has coast guard cutters there already.
Hard liners in both countries are openly advocating for military action.

I don't think it is likely, but it *is* worrisome.

Here is what the Japanese are saying:

The Chinese are even more blunt...

Heh... did they make the le big enough?
The Chinese government is walking a fine line here. One wonders how much they will let people blow off steam without it spiraling out of their control and morphing into a huge Tiananmen redux.
When will Gecko shoot of his stupid mouth about how badly Barry is handling the Sino-Nippo war?
oil again and again and again!
"The islands sit among popular fishing waters and are also believed to be rich in oil resources. Ownership of the chain would allow exclusive commercial rights in the seas surrounding the islands.
China's fishing moratorium in the East China Sea ended on Sunday, raising concern that as more Chinese trawlers enter the area, so raises the likelihood of conflict. China's Ministry of Agriculture issued a statement saying the "surrounding waters of Diaoyu Island and its affiliated islets are traditional fishing grounds for generations of Chinese fishermen," Beijing's CNTV reported Monday."

A good article on political ramifications (too long to cut/paste)
China is definitely testing the US's resolve in protecting Japan.

and Japan as a Chinese proxy target for China grabbing Taiwan
fishing boats? pretty sure thats the chinese navy!
s too pussy to fight imho, by far their government still hasn't made no actual reactions but verbal condemnations which japan doesn't give a about. commies are using the folks as their weapons yet again
^with US help, dem japs would be rapin and pillaging them s yet again, circa 1940 tbh
they can't send any navy there because it'd otherwise violate the sino-america mutual defense treaty, where america would be embroiled as well. the republic of china, which the senkaku islands are lawfully part of, would be immediately made a war zone when/if commies nary go there imho.
only difference is america would be japan's ally this time, not the s'
I believe RG already said something about along these lines, but the most interesting part to me is how the Chinese will handle this outburst of nationalism within their borders.
Some of it is understandable. When I was in Korea there was still a festering undercurrent of hatred for the Japanese as well
"how the Chinese will handle this outburst of nationalism within their borders"
handle it? the Chinese govt is orchestrating the "nationalism". If they didn't want these demos, they would crush them, or even prevent the island news from being on TV, radio.
over this?
am I missing something? is this the base where the aliens fly out of?
![]()
Nope, it's about THIS:

Though to be fair, I would punch someone in the face to be able to go out to those islands and go fishing/hiking.
morons being used by their government still don't understand the senkaku islands are not at all their nation's to begin with imho. taiwan and the mainland's governments are both waiting for each other to take action first but neither side will do it. sorry s on both sides have the instincts of dishonesty and shamelessness written in their genes, they're never a union and the japs just make use of it one more time like they did during the 2nd world war.
south korea also has disputes over a tiny island with japan and their president set his foot on the disputed island like a month ago IIRC as a method of proclaiming sovereignty, while the s leaders haven't done yet![]()
and you'd get caught & detained by japan because you look just like them fishermen, and your not japanese
it has been reported that the clowns who went protesting were paid nationalists with no way of identifying who it is, u dont see students and academics protesting, all you see are low lifes and menances of society on the partys books easy to brain washed and do the dirty work for them....
if you look at the china-vietnam problem over some islands again, both have claim its theirs, yet we dont know whose the original owner, so what does china do? goes and build a fkn admin office and claims its theres, put a few subs in the area to scare the vietnamese commie govt off....
i wonder whats TAIWANS take on this if a all out war breaks out, will they side with teh allies, or side with china and sell their american war equipments to the chinese....fkn
a few pinoys on this site should give more info, since some of their islands was also claim by the chinese hahahaha
ah...so it is the alien launch station...got it.
students don't want their bodies crushed under military vehicles, obviously they've learned a lesson from 1989. it's also a possibility the mobs are paid by the government for doing so (like the sand nigs who attacked US ambassey), but not guaranteed so. maybe they're just brainwashed assholes and are willing to do it for free under commie's occult power imho
those islands were china's properties back in the 19th centuries maybe and it seems they have very legit reasons to retain these islands based on the old eroded paperwork, but you don't see any democratic nations like spain for example attempt to reclaim their old territories like mexico, the western US and the whole south america excluding brazil.if you look at the china-vietnam problem over some islands again, both have claim its theirs, yet we dont know whose the original owner, so what does china do? goes and build a fkn admin office and claims its theres, put a few subs in the area to scare the vietnamese commie govt off....
