I think you're overthinking this one.
...more like Robocrap.
He looks like a hipster Robocop with his slim fit armor and an exposed right hand for texting on his new Iphone.
Are we going to expect him to be jumping and running and acting like he's freaking Jackie Chan?

agree with OP
looks like an obvious rip off of the new Batman suit with a got ass Daft Punk helmet. I'm sure the right hand is exposed because they weren't shooting at the moment and all he has to do is slip it back on, if not...wow
This fan design looks better TBH
Big chest, Robocop should always have a big chest.

Looks more like Judge Dredd in my opinion.
If they're after a more realistic time appropriate movie about a robot cop in Detroit...

There is no denying the suit won't look as good as the original but if you posted the full picture you would see the actor's trailers in the background; they were doing test shots on the suit. And from what I heard what he is wearing isn't the final look, there are still more pieces he doesn't have on, and some CG will be used on the suit, like in Iron Man.
The movie has a good cast for it to be a decent reboot.
eh, just looks like a modified ironman suit
IDK. You guys act like he shouldn't evolve with technology. It's like you'd rather him look cool than be the most efficient crime stopper he can be.
Guess they had a leftover suit from GI Joe.
Figures.
That was probably a prototype of some sort.
The rubbery look tells you all you need to know.
Side note,
I didn't even know they were planning on making a Robocop remake.
With Hollywood the way it is right now you would think they would have done one by now.

Isn't that the main purpose of watching a movie? To see cool costumes on cool characters?
Yes. But as a mechanical engineer specializing in flexible materials with strength, the suit must be believable for me to be able to watch the movie.
Hollywood, of course ing up worse than originally thought.

They're remaking Robocop? What the mother ? Are we going to see a Pulp Fiction remake next, or perhaps a 2010's Goodfellas? Robocop was perfectly executed, tiptoeing the line between great realistic action sequences and comic-book like characters and plotline. There isn't any room to improve it while it's really easy to screw that kind of movie up; e.g., how do they improve on the 6000 SUX?![]()
And not modified by much.
Meh. I'll reserve judgement for when I see the first footage of the suit in action.
I dont think its the whole thing.. i'm sure its just a back drop for some CGI add ons they will put in later. Dont be so quick to judgment
I think Goodfellas and Pulp Fiction are pretty close to perfection. I do not know if it is really possible to re-interpret those stories in a meaningful way. But Robocop is different. the original is a really good movie, but it has flaws that keep it from being great IMO. There is a lot to explore there that they didn't really explore that I hope they will in the re-make. I think it deserves a re-make. Especially I am hopeful that it will be great because Aronofsky is direction it. Pi, The Wrestler, Requiem for a Dream, and Black Swan were under his direction.
I forgot to mention, the ED-209 might have been the most impractical/dumb thing in the entire movie. How is something going to acheive civil pacification when it can't even go down/up a flight of stairs or use an elevator. A better robot counterpart to Robocop/antagonist would be badass.
Classic scene.
