MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Geno Smith is a naturally gifted artist who turned down admission to a fine arts magnet school in his native south Florida in order to focus on football. The West Virginia senior is an English major, taking one class in Shakespeare and another in American literature, even as he has become the most productive college quarterback in the nation.
First, does everybody agree that he's the frontrunner?

Second, does he fade (as heisman contender) away when WVU inevitably loses (possibly this weekend) due to their division 18 defense?

Third, does this guy translate to the NFL or is he another typical black, spread quarterback?

    Answer these questions, es

    Yes

If they lose to the wrong team(s), yes, but RG3 proved last year that if a QB is prolific enough a ty defense losing games won't take him out of the Heisman race.

He's another typical black, spread quarterback.

It’s his to lose at this point. This weekend’s match-up with the supposed stout Texas D will go a long way to cement the first back-to-back black quarterback Heisman win ever.

Quite possibly could happen. There’s no way he’ll continue to be spotless regardless as there is no such thing as perfection. He’ll have to put up monstrous numbers each and every week because that defense is easier than Jenna Haze. I see him slipping a little, but not enough to where you can see someone challenge him.

Third, does this guy translate to the NFL or is he another typical black, spread quarterback?
I think he has two things going against him if you look at the overall success rate for black QBs and Heisman winning QBs. I guess that’s why you see the pundits and know-it-alls are lap riding RGIII at the moment. How much success does Geno Smith find in the NFL? I won’t be surprised if he’s in-between Vick and McNabb but won’t be surprised if he is more Vince Young than the first comparison. He seems to be actually intelligent after reading his interview about his love for art so we’ll have to wait and see.

    Is that better, Auburn biotch?

I really found it funny how the article goes on and on about how smart he is and artistic....nerd...blah blah blah... It's like Maisel is subconsciously saying,"hey, this dude is different from all the others"

IMO, he's not...It really doesn't have to do with pure intelligence in the classic sense as it does with football IQ and the type of offense you're running. I'll use Alex Smith as an example. He graduated when he was 20 with a 3 point something GPA (smart guy) but still isn't comfy under center because he was in the shotgun his whole life until he hit the NFL.

In the high octane spread you line up and then look across to your coaches who then relay the play in. You rarely get in a huddle and call a play from memory while looking your fellow teammates in the eye. It's like comparing the burger flipper to a gourmet chef. Add in the fact that spread passing schemes are incredibly simple and you see why these guys are typically bums when they reach the NFL.

I do think he'll win the Heisman as things stand now, even if they lose to UT and probably one or two other games. Has to keep putting up video game numbers, though
