A listing in UK retailer Argos’ Christmas Gift Guide indicates that Google and Asus will soon release a 32GB version of the Nexus 7. The tablet is labeled as costing £199.99, matching the current price of the 16GB variant in the UK. Android Police has also posted details of the 32GB model, with a listing on Staples’ website showing the higher-capacity version commanding a $248 price compared to the current $250 cost of the 16GB variant. The timeline for the release of the higher capacity tablet isn’t clear, however: The Next Web was told "not to expect it in the next two weeks," while the October 18th date on Staples’ listing looks to be a placeholder.
Update 1: A tipster has sent a photograph to The Verge of Argos' intranet database, showing lead times for items due to arrive at specific warehouses. The photo indicates that Argos would receive the 32GB Nexus 7 on Sunday November 18th. Our tipster was told that products in general are in stores by "the next day," suggesting that the tablet will made available for purchase on November 19th in the UK.
Update 2: We've got yet more evidence to show you. Additional tipsters have provided The Verge with photos depicting the 32GB Nexus 7 within Sears' internal inventory, and a closeup of the device's box at Sam's Club. The latter source says the units have arrived in store but cannot yet be sold.

8GB Nexus 7 No Longer In The Play Store, Possibly Never To Return

If you jumped onto the Play Store today looking to pick up an 8GB version of the tab in time for the holidays, you may have noticed the $200 8GB has been completely sold out, listed as “coming soon.” So what gives? Well, there have been whisperings that Google could have plans to completely phase out the 8GB version of the Nexus 7, in favor of offering the 16GB models for the exact same price. Google’s expected to announce the news on Monday at their Android event in New York, along with a beefier 32GB model carrying the same price point as the 16GB. Are things starting to make a little more sense now?
As many early adopters of Google’s flagship 7-inch tablet have found out, the measly 8GB of storage offered in the lowest-end model of the Nexus 7 fills up quick. Throw a couple of Tegra 3 optimized les on that puppy, and you’ve got only a handful of games that can be stored on the tablet with little to no room for your budding HD kitty video collection. Couple that with the Nexus 7′s lack of memory expandability, and you have yourself a severely handicapped little tablet.
With today’s announcement of the iPad Mini, we’re hoping Google has a little more up their sleeves than just storage space if they want to keep a strong compe ive edge against Apple’s finest. We’re also expecting a new 3G model for the Nexus 7, as well as a speedy update to the unannounced Android 4.2 (still Jelly Bean) and possibly a 10-inch Nexus 10 tablet. Make sure to stay tuned as Phandroid will be reporting live from the event, bringing you the latest as it goes down. What do you guys hope Google will announce?
lol Office Depot cant keep a secret

hopefully the 8 GB drops to 149.
5.7GB doesn't leave much room
buying for christmas for our 15 year old. I don't care. LOL
edit: we are getting a tablet for our 5 year old, so to make it look like we aren't playing favorites we have to get one for the 15 year old (despite the fact that she has a netbook and an iphone) but she is my step-daughter, so we have to play with kid gloves.
Soooo, I don't care how much space she has.
I guess it is one more thing to take away from her for not cleaning her room (she is down to just her phone and that is gone on saturday)
32GB Nexus 7 in stock at Walmart for $249, 16GB model now $199

Although the Google event scheduled for this morning has been delayed as Hurricane Sandy bears downs on the East Coast, at least one retailer is going ahead with a refresh of their Nexus portfolio. Walmart’s website now lists the new 32GB Nexus 7 as in stock and features a price drop for the 16GB model. The 8GB Nexus 7 is no longer shown for sale.
The 32GB model comes in at the expected price point of $249, but perhaps the bigger news is that the 16GB model has dropped to $199, replacing the 8GB model at that price. It is unclear if Google plans to continue sales of the smallest storage option with a similar price cut as the 16GB model or if that device will be discontinued. Not present on the retailer’s site is the rumored 3G Nexus 7, which was also to be unveiled this morning at the New York City press event.
Google’s Play Store now lists both the 8GB and 16GB Nexus 7 as “coming soon” rather than on sale, a sign that a refresh should soon occur. It was expected that the tech giant would introduce a refreshed tablet lineup today that included the 32GB Nexus 7 along with a new Nexus 10 tablet developed by Samsung. The star of the show, however, would have been the LG Nexus 4, the next addition to the lineup of pure Google smartphones.
Google may still proceed with the rollout of the new Nexus 7 products today, but we are awaiting word from the company about plans to reschedule their Nexus event.
[Thanks, TLC!]
This is actually pretty cool, a very small premium for connectivity

Alongside the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10, Google has also announced a small update to the 7-inch Nexus 7 tablet. Called "Nexus 7 (32GB + Mobile)," it simply adds a pentaband HSPA+ radio and comes in a 32GB configuration for $299, a $50 premium over the 16GB model. It's available unlocked, but Google will be selling it with either a T-Mobile or AT&T SIM card pre-installed. It will be up to users to take the device to a carrier to get service — presumably using something like AT&T's Mobile Share plan. Just like the Nexus 4, the Nexus 7 + Mobile doesn't come with an option for LTE, no doubt a function of Google's strong desire to issue software updates without carrier intervention.
Other than the 32GB of storage and the radio, the specs on the tablet are the same as the version we've already seen, including the 1280 x 800 IPS display, Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, and 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera. Presumably it will ship with Android 4.2 out of the box. The Nexus 7 (32GB + Mobile) will be available on November 13th. As with the other Nexus devices, it will be sold via the Google Play Store, specifically in the US, UK, Australia, France, Germany, Spain, and Canada.

ok...do i really need more than 16gb? let me know...or ill just buy the $199 one lol..i use amazon cloud player and my kids play the usual games like angrybirds etc.
Probably not, you won't be able to upgrade though (no sd card slot). If you get too low, just get a wireless portable hard drive. LOL
Same here
I was thinking about getting the 8gb, but now that the 16 gb will be offered at the same price ...
Im not sure I need a tablet yet - I returned a Galaxy 10.1 and a few months later an iPad 2 - but Nexus made by Asus with stock JB at 200 $ is very tempting
remember you still have all that storage from dropbox/google music/google drive/microsoft sky drive.
u dont think 16gb is enuf? i think on my phone (Gnex) i still have 21 gb of space left. So im not really sure what people do to need so much. lol
i have the transformer and im trying to sell it....but i guess if i dont, i can use it at home and the 7 will be for travel.
No I am trying to say that I do think that 16 should be enough (without knowing your use case). If it isn't you still have all those cloud storage options.
So I just got the 16 gb version
I will let you know if I return it within 2 weeks![]()
So you'll let us know if you drop it
Ok losers, time for a little update
I find myself using it less and less, as expected (lol novelty factor)
But everytime I use it, I'm like "damn" ....... I really enjoy using it
So, will Futureshop have to give me my money back ?
Stay tuned ........
LOL, she still hasn't earned any of that stuff back. Her phone was already given back to her grandparents (who bought it for her) and I think they sold it. I am about to put her netbook on CL. We actually went in her bedroom last week and just wholesale threw a ton of away. Sad part is that all she had to do to get her stuff back after that was maintain that (she did ok at this), clean the bathroom on saturday (she did it on sunday for the first time in months) and do the dishes. She didn't do the dishes.
