A man is accused of forcing his girlfriend's 4-year-old son to stand in scalding hot water, hurting his feet so badly the child required surgery and couldn't walk for weeks.
The child's mother told police Louis Jaramillo, 25, became upset with the boy on Oct. 15 and spanked him. Jaramillo then took the boy into the bathroom, where the boy could be heard screaming that the water was too hot, the woman told police.
Jaramillo and the child's mother told police it was eight days before they realized the severity of his injuries. His wounds had started to smell, blister and stick to bandages, and the boy couldn't walk, they said.
Hospital staff determined the child's injuries were such that the boy had been held by force under hot water. He spent about two weeks in the hospital and required several surgeries and skin grafts, and continues to need treatment.
Jaramillo was arrested Monday and charged with intentionally causing serious bodily injury to a child, a first-degree felony. Bail was set at $75,000.

Welfare of her children? How dare you, ma'am! I'd put 10 bucks on her truly caring about her child(ren) enough to make sure they're certified for food stamps and government healthcare - so yea, she most def cares about welfare. Everyone acts like it's easy to raise a child in a single-parent home, but you don't think moms ever think of just leaving the little terrors at Walmart or a church parking lot? The Texas single mom is a strong, savvy woman that just happens to continuously be in violent relationships. It's not Texas single mom's fault her mom made bad decisions with the men she allowed in the house - show some empathy!
That said, if anyone is justified in shooting mom and boyfriend in the gut, it is the absent father of the boy. But he's prolly in jail, so it's whatev at this point. Mom should be in jail too, tbh - does anyone really believe she was helpless in that situation while her child screamed in pain? There's negligence, without a doubt, but the stupid CPS workers "want to keep the child with the mother" when in this case it's clear the mother didn't give a until the kid's wounds started to smell.
