I was just wondering how the qualifying offers worked in the NBA. Darko has next season, then a team option then a qualifying offer. Is that just the minimum Detroit can offer him? Does he have to accept it? Someone please help me out.
Detroit has to offer the qual offer to him to make him a restricted FA. If they do not, he is unrestricted. Darko can then sign for the QO, or he can try to get a bigger contract from Detroit or anywhere else, but then Detroit can match any offer to him.
