    1. Prior to Saturday night's game between the Spurs and Celtics, Rajon Rondo had produced at least ten assists in 42 straight regular season games in which he didn't get ejected during the course of the contest. He finished tonight's game with nine assists. The all-time record is held by Magic Johnson at 46.

    2. The Spurs hadn't beaten the Celtics in San Antonio since November of 2005. Yes, November of 2005. Back then, the Spurs won 103-82. Tonight the final score was 103-88. Paul Pierce led the Celtics in scoring in both games. In November of 2005, Tony Parker had 23 points, six assists and six rebounds. Tonight, he had 22 points, eight assists and four steals. Back then, the leading scorer off the bench was backup point guard Nick Van Exel with seven points. Tonight, the leading scorer off the bench was backup point guard Nando De Colo with seven.

    3. Not since November of 2007 did a bigman start next to Tim Duncan and match the production Tiago Splitter totaled tonight of 16 points, eight rebounds, four assists and one block. In November of 2007, that bigman was Fabricio Oberto, who erupted for the game of his career: 23 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and one block on 10-for-11 shooting from the field.

I like what we have been seeing from Splitter lately. I almost want to see him play 25 mpg. Though I do worry about him and his nagging injuries. We need him to blossom.

I remember very fondly this game. Fabri seemed like he wouldn't miss. One of my very first spurs games. NASF ftw

At least Oberto got to start in his second year. Pop has waited till year 3 with Splitter.

The streak of assists by Rondo IS meaningless in and of itself. However, the fact that the Spurs defense stopped him from having a good game isn't. If Rondo had been able to complete 15 assists along with 15-20 points we might have lost. However, our defense held him to 9 and 6.

Wonderful job by our team defense and a special hat tip to TP and all who defensed Rondo man-on-man.

Splitter does remind me of Fabbo but I think Splitter has the potential to be better.

Is that a record in the Duncan Era?

His motor will need to rev a lot higher if he wants to be better than Fab, talent notwithstanding. He just ing disappears for quarters and frankly, games. Fab never let up.
