To answer your question, yes, if the Spurs got Josh Smith without giving up Tim, Tony, Manu, Tiago or Kawhi they would be a better team. He's overrated, however he would be an upgrade in athleticism and talent.
what would josh smith be like with the spurs? of course we will never get him, but if we did would he be able to play with kawhi? would a lineup of duncan, kawhi, tp, splitter, and smith make noise in the playoffs?

Somewhere right now Josh Smith is bricking a long 2
I doubt the Hawks will be interested in a Blair/Bonner/Neal for Smith swap
Lee is correct. It would be very tough for the Spurs to get Smith. If somehow they were able to do under OP's cir stances, then obviously it would help the team. But that is so far fetched not really worth discussing.
another not gonna happen
Honestly, I don't believe a team with Josh Smith can win a le..his IQ is too low and his offense is easily defended..
He takes the shots that Pop hates the most.
Story of his career. He has one of the worst shot selections in the NBA. He also has a ty at ude and wouldn't last 5 minutes under Pop.
