Lily Longley on her way to be a model basketballer

IT'S a slam dunk. With her father's height and athletic ability, and her mother's model good looks, 14-year-old Lily Longley is proving a natural on both the basketball court and the fashion catwalk. And the 191cm youngster is already finding herself sought after for both.
She is the youngest daughter of retired basketballer Luc Longley the first Australian to play in the American NBA and his former wife Kelly, who modelled in the US and is now a property developer and racing car driver in Perth.
The high school student didn't become interested in the sport until six years ago when she took to the court, aged eight.
Since then she's proved a natural though she says doing well doesn't come without hard work.
"I think I have to work at it like everyone else," she said. "But I've definitely got the height advantage."
The teenager, who plays for burn Cougars and for Coogee a team coached by her dad, has represented Western Australi and has been asked to try out for the Australian under-17 world championships team to compete in the London Olympics in 2012
.
She is also one of 14 players in Australia to be selected for a special Australian Ins ute of Sport camp in December.
Lily said her famous 218cm-tall dad gives advice on her game. "He does give me quite a few tips and I enjoy them," she said.
Lily was a hit when she took to the catwalk for the first time in a modelling compe ion last year. She came second out of 800 girls in the search by top agency Chadwick and was offered a contract, but has put a modelling career on hold until she turns 16.
Basketball, she says, is her first love. "I definitely enjoy basketball more, but modelling is fun and I might do a bit of it on the way," she said.
Longley rates his daughter's basketball ability as "significantly" higher than his own. "She's athletic she can run, jump and catch," he said. "It took me a long time to get my co-ordination together."
Despite his all-star record, he said his daughter found her own way to the game.
"She hasn't been hot-housed by me," he said. "My focus has been on her having fun and doing other things. She's been raised to be a rounded, happy kid."

At least he moved up 10 years. Isn't Kori's youngest 4 years old? If that's the case. this one is 14. Maybe by next year he'll have move his "dig in" status quo to legal age. lol
