I've wondered about that quote from Pop after we lost to OKC. If you play to win the game and actually win the game, shouldn't that be considered "doing your job!" Did he expect the team to be first or second round losers? If the front office didn't think the team was good enough then why resign the same guys? I guess the real question is does the organization from top to bottom think they're capable of raising banner number five or is it ok to fall short year after year? No team ever has a smooth ride to the le, but it's not like the Spurs are an up and coming team. We're a standard bearer in the NBA and I for once feel like Laker fans ALWAYS do....."This is a championship caliber team and dammit I'm ready to party come June!"

Plenty of mustang driving hacks in here will tell you they underachieved because of Pop.

I think this team is good enough to win a le this year. We're as good as any other top contender in the league. Is the mission to win a championship or simply, "do your best?"

The flaw in your reasoning is that those two things are not mutually exclusive/

They would have to be if the same group of players "overachieved" last season. My view is that they didn't overachieve last year, they were just flat out better than the compe ion. The Thunder were better in the WCFs but if we overachieved then what was the team's expectation for the playoffs or more importantly, Pops?

LOL at the best record in the NBA "overachieving" by making it to the WCF.

Overachieve at a slightly higher level seems to be the goal

Considering we won 20 straight games (before Oklahoma), I think people expected more. This year, expectations are limited, and I think we'd do well to get to the western finals.
