Another gritty, gutty guy like Raja Bell who is willing to play hard and get up in someone's grill. He shot rather well from the field this season for a perimeter player (52.8%) and 40.5% from beyond the arc. Also had 3 boards, 1 steal and close to 2 assists per game in 21.7 minutes a night. Here's to thinking the Spurs need more defensive hardasses on the perimeter, not less, next season.
Starters
1 Parker
2 Ginobili
3 Bowen
4 Duncan
5 Mohammed
Bench
1 Beno
1/2 Barry
2 DBrown
2/3 Buckner
4 Horry
4 Scola
5 Nesterovic
The Spurs faced teams with the dreaded "long 3" this season and in the playoffs. I'd say they fared rather well. It's clear that what is important is having personnel who are committed to playing team defense and playing it well as opposed to those players whose primary qualification is their height or size. The NBA is more of a meritocracy than people realize. If you have the game then you can play.
I think the Spurs couldn't go wrong with another strong perimeter defender on the bench. Buckner's game is pretty solid and he'd be a good fit in SA.
Yeah, he'll be a Spur when Latrell and Carlisimo are T-Wolves![]()
Sorry but I don't think that Buckner will fit good with the Spurs.
