9er D was baddass in last years run to the SuperBowl. Woops, fumbled punts nevermind.

It's gonna come down to how well the 9er docs can dope up the DStars.

    Yahoo:

Several 49ers were limited on Wednesday, including Pro Bowl defensive tackle Justin Smith, who has missed the last few games with a left elbow/triceps injury. Head coach Jim Harbaugh said "God willing and the creek don't rise, he's going to play" when asked about Smith's availability for Saturday night. Also limited for the 49ers was outside linebacker Aldon Smith, the team's leader with 19.5 sacks, who has a shoulder injury, safety Dashon Goldson (shoulder) and cornerback Tarell Brown (shoulder).

    And the local SF rag:
For his part, inside linebacker Patrick Willis acknowledged that the loss of his fellow defensive captain creates an emotional void. Known for his dedication, aversion to the spotlight and dry wit, Smith is perhaps the most respected player in the locker room.

"You can't really put into words what he means to this defense," Willis said. "Justin is one of our team captains, but more than just a captain, he's a man that goes out there and leads by example. He doesn't say a whole lot. He only speaks when he has to. He goes out there and plays with heart. He's a guy that I look up to in this league."

Justin Smith is probably the best player on our team... we definitely need him to create pressure against Rodgers. Not that it was entirely related to his injury, but our defense was horrible against Seattle and in the 2nd half v New England without him.

He's really the straw that stirs our front 7...

It really is a shame he's in the DPOY race with clearly superior players in Von Miller and Watt due to his inflated sack total.
