How long do you need for gun violence statistics to go down?

    Is one year enough time?

If not, when? When can we start judging this new law on if it is successful or not?

I would think at least a couple years... I mean, the whole registration part will probably take some time.

The actual question is, what's the measure for success or failure?

Won't make much difference. Guns are very portable, just like drugs.

Unless severe regulations are federal (and enforced), city or state gun regulation only is a charade. If you want a gun, there are 1000s of legal and illegal sellers

NY is posturing. 7rnd mags. lol.

Placebo legislation at its finest. Libs are likely toasting a victory right about now. I've written states like NY and California off as far as the BoR is concerned. They are like different countries.

I just heard on NPR this morning that NRA/Repug crippling/forbidding gun transaction record keeping hinders ATF going after domestic gun traffickers. Something 100K guns missing from dealers' shelves.

    That's a good point...
    less gun crime
    or
    less mass casualty crimes
    or
lower overall victims involved in mass casualty crimes
or some other kind of measurement

Seeing this was a knee-jerk reaction to a mass shooting, I would agree a 'mass shooting' reduction (or not) would probably be a good criteria.
