Yeah, Miami is making Zona look better by the day. Kinda curious where the U would be ranked had they not lost to Florida Gulf Coast (lol) and Indiana State earlier this season. They'd be 19-1 with their lone loss to UA on a neutral court...probably vying for a #1 seed
Miami took care of business tonight, raping BC. I saw a graphic that said they had the hardest SOS in NCAA to date, but could be wrong. Florida's getting their ass kicked too, so the U will continue to climb
Another #1 goes down! What a meltdown by Indiana in the last couple minutes...giving up a backdoor cut with <1 sec left is embarrassing.
There were 7 teams ranked ahead of Miami going into the week, and 4 of them have lost (Florida, Indiana, Michiganx2, and Kansasx2). Miami should be ranked no lower than 4th next week, as they are 10-0 in the ACC and are the first team in NCAA history to beat Duke and UNC by 25+ pts in the same season. I'm obviously biased, but I think they should be ranked 2nd--they've been more impressive than Duke, and have a better RPI than Gonzaga. Arizona should be #1.
There's a game right now that won't end. ND-Louisville already in 5OT.![]()
AZ needs to win impressively today to be considered for #1.
My guess with AZ win:
1. Duke
2. Miami
3. Arizona
4. Gonzaga
5. Indiana
6. Florida
7. Ohio State
8. Syracuse
9. Michigan
10. Michigan State
apparently nobody wants #1. Duke wins by a point today, do they still get it? zona loses. I think Miami deserves it actually.
1. Miami
2. Duke
3. Gonzaga
4. Indiana.
5. Florida.
6. Ohio State
7. Arizona.
8. Syracuse
9. Michigan
10. Michigan State
Ohio State lost today. I couldn't care less. Arizona is really pissing me off. Their losses aren't bad, but are results of terrible play. They really aren't building to anything. Really disappointing.
Miami #1, Duke #2, who cares.
ing Duke held on today...can't believe Zona dropped one at home against CalMiami should be #1, Indiana #2. Hoosiers rebounded about as good as you can after that loss to Illinois.
Look for Syracuse to make a big jump too--they're a good bid for a #1 seed now that Southerland's back for the home stretch.
If you've watched Arizona the bed repeatedly at home, a loss to Cal isn't shocking, just enraging.
Monty is a very good coach. If Crabbe stays, they'll contend for top-20 next year.
I honestly think Arizona will finish 6-1 down the stretch (lone loss to UCLA).
They play like at home. 5-2 is likelier.
Miami is just razing through teams like forest fires in the Everglades.Duke
But you have to give it to the Devils, they're always a prime candidate for regular season champs every season.
Miller has let this team turn into a run & chuck fast break team that doesn't play a lick of defense and doesn't seem to want to do anything to turn it around. You send a bad message when Angelo Chol is coming off a great performance only to lose any chance to build on it because Miller thinks Grant Jerrett has earned a guaranteed 15+ minutes a games because he "spaces the floor!" even though he walks around hunched over and doesn't play defense. As bad as this team was last year, it's gotten worse at defense but just so much better at offense the two more than offset. You wouldn't see them give up 59% shooting at home last year.
Someone on ESPN said the other day that scoring was so bad this year because outside of Coach K, Tom Izzo and a few others, every coach is running the most vanilla sets on offense that are easy to defend. It's as if he was talking about Sean Miller, because the offensive sets this team runs are horrible and as plain as it gets. He obviously shouldn't be on the hotseat, but he's got some serious flaws as a coach that need to be addressed, i.e., the way Mark Lyons has completely taken over the locker room and made this his team that has no balance on offense and can't do anything against zones other than chuck 30 footers.
The voters are still blowing Duke--most obvious paper tiger if I've ever seen one. Miami got 17 first-place votes. Updated AP Top 10:
1. Indiana
2. Duke
3. Miami
4. Michigan
5. Gonzaga
6. Syracuse
7. Florida
8. Michigan St.
9. Arizona
10. Kansas St.
