Is this official? Last year compensatory picks weren't announced until March 26th...and I don't think the NFL has ever revealed exactly how they determine them.

They are probably still unofficial, but guesses that come out at this time are usually pretty accurate. I don't think any estimate will be off by more than a round. The distribution shouldn't change at all, as all but the last two or three have been known since the season began.
The actual picks were announced a couple of days ago.
