As of right now, he's got the highest FG% for a PG in the league at .532 and is just outside the top 10 in points scored at 20.3...very impressive Tony.

Players with 20+ PPG / 7.5+ APG / 53+ FG% seasons:
- Wilt (3)
- Magic
- Jordan
- Parker
Nice company to have
Edit: change to 52FG% and you add Bird to the list
At 50%, you add Walt Frazier, Oscar Robertson, Kevin Johnson, Lebron, Chris Paul... not too many scrubs here

Tony is really take a on his former critics (me being one of those).
First of all, yes. This.
Second of all, love the avatar.
He's right on the edge of 20/7.5. If he can keep it up for the rest of the season then it will be amazing to be up there with those all time greats.
Also, his 3P% is second among that group (excluding Oscar, Walt and Wilt ofc), only trailing Bird. His 81% FT% isn't to be sniffed at either.
yeah, I read somewhere else that if he can just get his 3 pt % up something like 4 basis points he will all alone with Bird.
The guy is damn good, and he has worked his butt off to get this good. As long as the team keeps winning, I am happy with him getting all the stats he wants, because you can count on him getting his stats on fewer minutes played than most of those guys.
I want his assists to go up a bit more, to around ~8.0 per game. I know you can TP, let's go !!
I will be more impressed if he can do it in the playoffs.
Feels like it came down pretty fast in the more recent games, he was over 90% for a while...
How many PGs peaked after turning 30? Nash is the only other guy I can think of.
It was never over 90% this season? Really curious, I thought I heard different but I might be wrong.
No sir.
Edit: A quick glance tells me the highest he got was 83.1%.
Ok I stand corrected.
Just for the record here is the all-time list of players with shooting numbers as good or better as Tony's this year (averaging at least 1 3PA per game to make the 3P% number meaningful, and obviously taking into account only seasons since 3P shooting was introduced).

Speaks for itself, really. Especially with Tony having the most FGA (by far) and FTA in the list (and the highest PPG).
If not mistaken, he's never shot more than 84% in his career.
Great shooting season so far for Tony. He peaked in 05-06' when he had a .548 FG% when it seemed like every shot he put in the paint would fall in. Impressive this year too as I am sure he is hitting a higher number of outside shots than 05-06'.
Has anybody found a good reference for points in the paint stats? I'd like to see his points in the paint vs points outside the paint stats over the years and compared to others. I tried looking in basketball reference but could not find it there.
You can have a look at 82games.com.
This year:
68% of jumpshot 48.6 eFG% 10 pts
32% inside 66 Fg% 6.4 pts
05-06:
51% js 41.5 eFg% 6 pts
49% inside 70% FG% 9.7 pts
And the clutch factor too, much more important, he has been making an awesome journey into a clutch performer as of now. Not to mention the leadership & balance as the floor general + scorer, indeed he's not any lower than a top 3 PG of today's NBA.
Thanks mathbzh! Its good to see that he's shooting 2/3rds of his shots from outside the paint while still maintaining a high FG%.
