First of all, NOTHING would make this old ass team contenders at this point. But it's amazing to me how so many Laker fans predicted a while ago that Jim Buss ed up by not making Brian Shaw HC and just keeping Ramon Sessions who is a solid 26 year old PG averaging 14.9ppg BUT instead ted away $24 + million on the combined waste of $ on Mike Brown and D'antoni + signing Steve Nash which never made much sense to me anyway.

BTW, I also think Lakers getting CP3 would never work with Kobe, I get flamed on LG for saying that but it's obvious. CP3 is a ball handling QB kind of PG, he would want out of the Lakers after 1 season with Kobe. This is why Kobe worked so well with D. Fish. Anyway, I'm sure my math is off on the money but you get my point.

$50M its not that much after the cable deal. Once Mitch sign the players D'Antoni require, he will eventually win some RS 'ships, he also made deep runs while in Phoenix. Since the Lakers are always top in talent, maybe he could win it all in LA. They could ship Howard and let's say World Piece for Pierce and KG.

Sadly a valid point, but it's because he's finished. In all honesty, a handful of Laker fans already said after 2010 that Kobe is going to rapidly decline. Due to his lack of consistent athleticism from injuries he has become the ultimate chucker at this age.
