Kind of hard to win anything without making some sort of move that would help you get to where you want.
Apparently regular season wins is the highest mark the Spurs aim for.
The San Antonio Spurs have been linked to trade discussions for Josh Smith and Al Jefferson, but a source the team won't pursue a move for either player.
The Spurs would have struggled to afford either player given their salary cap situation.

oh no! all the hard work the gnsf's did upstairs with their generic trade machine links are going to waste!
15 pages of Josh Smith trade thread down the drain.
Looking like Blairs getting traded
if he gets traded to china, he can be the "brair rabbit"
What the SA Spurs look like to free agents\NBA players

don't see how guys like josh smith and al jefferson can better this team tbh. both are undersized PFs with low basketball IQs, even dalembert would help the team more imho.
The concept of eating fresh fruits and vegetables is a foreign concept in this city imo
was all smoke screen by the agents to get some bidding...
spurs usually makes trades without the source leaking
Could be worse... We could've traded for Nash and Howard and be out of the playoffs...
ElNono with the goods
either way, these deals both presumably involved Tiago or Kawhi, otherwise Utah/Atlanta wouldn't go for them. I wouldn't want to sacrifice team chemistry + we must realize our odds of resigning Tiago >>>> our odds of potentially resigning Al or Smoove.

I think people didn't concentrate and believe enough for it to happen. Those upstairs should have thought more on sensible trades and it would have happened. I'm just shocked the Spurs aren't getting a non-retiring mid to upper echelon player. It's simply unfathomable.
But if you're dumb enough to trade for Nash, then let Bryant handle the ball more often than Nash, you deserve to miss the playoffs.
no need to mess with our young core, just let the veterans retire in peace when they want and that's it. if we don't win, then so be it.
No surprise here. Team doesn't make huge moves like these anyway.
Im a fan of yours!! YEAH!!

The Spurs starting bigs are just as good as those players. And for the backup role, Al or Josh would command too much to re-sign.
Good, they would not have made the team better.
