theres only 2-3 really contenders for the award or is it lebron locked 2013?

durant hasnt shown me he has improved at all this season compared to last season why he should win it this season....

lebron has improved his efficiency even when his coasting,

parker has improved and backed up last season performance was no fluke by carrying the spurs pass half way through the season and his stats show it....

cp3 is not even in the discussion cause he miss 12 games and that hurts his chances unless the clippers finish strong with the best record in the league....

what boggles my mind is if its lebron locked and his team finishes 3rd best team record behind the spurs/thunder...so what would it take for either durant or parker to even have a chance to knock the king off the award? +5 +10 team wins over whatever heat record is? around +65 wins?

spurs are 44-12 atm and play the remainder games of their schedule mostly at home....26 games, whats the chances of the spurs losing more than +5 games?
checked the spurs schedule only 4-5 games worth mentioning only that could pose a threat or propel his chances - 2 games vs okc, 1 heat, 1 clipper, 1 memphis

ps. fck it hurt inside giving the hero any credit to win mvp this season...

i'm somewhat of a TP hater too but this season has been his best yet. He deserves some serious recognition. It's great he's finally embraced being more of a John Stockton type. I gotta give respect where it's due.

there could be a chance. perhaps the voters feel Lebron just won it so someone else deserves it, though realistically Lebron is on another level right now.

btw, props TDMVPDPOY for trying to get back into timvp's graces. Hopefully he can let you out of the Vietnamese refugee camp and back upstairs.

    imho:

    1-Lebron
    2-Durant

    3a-TP/3b-CP3

I know the cool thing to do right now is to throw Paul under the bus but the Clippers were awful without him and he has the 3rd best PER in the league behind Lebron and Durant.

u really think durant deserves runners up? dude has done all nothing this season, his basically still the same player who hasnt improved at all....

u say clippers play awful without cp3, but didnt they win like most of their games when he was out 12 games? its not like they are if they are playing against fodder teams... dont think they beat or played any elite team during that stretch he missed games

i still give him even if he has g ood games...but last season was lame anyway with off the court drama that wasnt needed on the team, probably took some distraction on him but he continued to pushed though the season...

yes we like to give him cause his french and the usual disappearing act in big games, we all say after all these years wheres that jumpshot he says been working on, and adjusting to team defense catered to stop him and overcoming big wings defending him....his jumpshot has improved and looks more smooth with the 18ft jumper to his game, its the decision making during stretches of the game when to on/off hero mode....

if that gangbanger derick rose can win mvp with that sort of gamestyle, i dont see how parker cant win a mvp with that sort of game style, hence that scrub steve nash won his 2nd mvp just on efficiency alone....

i hate the clown with a passion, its the hate and criticisms pushing the hero to new heights to prove the haters wrong...if that sort of works to motivate him, then so be it....

Regarding All D team not dpoty obviously, I think TP deserves a mention. He played some good D all year and had two amazing performances against Irving and CP3

Before the ASB, I thought it was a toss-up between LeBron and Durant and I was leaning towards Durant.

But the way LeBron continues to play out of his mind, he's making it a moot debate. Unless he starts to fade, it should be a lock for LeBron. And he's not going to start to fade.

I'll also hop on the Tony Parker wagon as a legit top 3 candidate in the MVP discussion. He plays exceptionally well. At his age to still have that quickness and dexterity and finishing ability at the rim is uncanny. You can't stop him from getting his shot off and you can't stop him from scoring. It's like what they talked about with Jordan's midrange fade-away. You know what he's going to do. You know the move. And you still can't stop him. That's how I feel about Tony Parker. You can know exactly what he's about to do, what kind of drive he's going to make, where he's going to crossover or go in and out, when and where he'll use a little pump fake, which hand and whether he's going straight up off the glass, floater, or reverse... you can know exactly what he's about to do and still can't stop him.

So you're suggesting that Lebron isn't going to win it? Cause Damian Lillard is going to win ROY

As much as I would love for you to be right regarding Tony I just can't agree with you when one of the biggest reasons for the Spurs' last playoffs exits are opposing teams packing the lane and succesfully slowing Tony down.

If Tony Parker continues to play this well, Lebron is by no means a lock to win it. I know Charles Barkley is a bit of a clown, but a lot of people listen to him, and I'd be willing to bet you hear other commentators start jumping on the TP bandwagon. Voter fatigue is another factor. People get tired of voting for the same guy over and over again.

By my definition of what the award is supposed to mean, Chris Paul should win the award. When he was out, the Clippers fell off the map. They were horrible. He is more valuable to his team than any other superstar right now. Tony Parker and Lebron James are both better players, but I think they also have better pieces around them. I think both of their teams would make the playoffs without them, though they'd obviously be much lower in the rankings.

If you believe the award should just go to the best player overall, you might as well mail Lebron the next four or five MVP trophies now. He is far and away the best basketball player in the NBA. I don't see anyone on the horizon who will be challenging that in the short term. That is not who the award is supposed to go to though, or Michael Jordan should have around 10 MVPs.

The only way he's not winning it is if they decide to give it to someone else.

if he took games off and not legitimate injury to show the world how much his team suffers without his play...then his an idiot who deserves no mvp

i blame steve nash for this fkn trend

Disagree. ... (not with you but the voters) IF MJ deserved 10 he should of got them, same as Lebron. The award somehow got twisted for the EXACT resons you stated; voter fatigue and folks making that if you take so-and so off their team crap ... So if you take some star off their team, that a system and team is built around and tha t team struggles that makes them MORE valuable than the best player in the game by far?! BS!

Should go to the best player on one of the 3 top teams in the league. IF Lebron maintains his level of play, no one surppasses him and Heat have a top 3 record ... he deserves as many as he earns. I hate the freaking MVP award for the reasons you stated ... MJ SHOULD have at least 7 or 8 ... I know Malone owes him at least one ...

That's a re ed argument, if a player of a lesser team has more impact on his team why should another guy that is less VALUABLE but is on a better team should win Most Valuable player?

For example Nash winning the MVP over Kobe in '05/'06 is a freaking joke.
