According to Howard Eskin of Fox 29 News in Philadelphia, the Rockets are set to offer Andrew Bynum a multi-year contract this summer in free agency. Bynum, the 25 year old center with the Philadelphia 76ers, has missed the entire season after being traded from Los Angeles in the Dwight Howard deal.

Here's what Eskin had to say:

I'm being told by sources the #houstonrockets are ready to offer #sixers C Andrew Bynum a contract after season

    Healthy Bynum/Dwight/Harden = game over 4 NBA.

Healthy is the tough part tho.

Wouldn't be as hilarious as philly makes the big trade, bynum plays no minutes for them, gets re-signed to a big deal, and then plays no minutes for them tbh.

Asik is a legit, quality C that still has some upside, there is no need of an upgrade, especially for a question mark like Bynum..

Houston needs an offensive, star PF to complete their team..

Is Josh Smith a good fit for them for the max ? Or -gulp- Boris Diaw for 4 years 30 mil a nice proposition & complimentary players ? Don't think they would target Splitter, but who knows ......

Sorry, don't believe it. One thing Morey has done is not handcuff the team with dumb contracts for injury prone players. He'd do it for Dwight but not Bynum.

In this league, 7 footer, who can catch the ball when is passed to him, and who can play some defense. That`s material for 40mln/4 yrs at least. Denver is paying more to scrub named JaVale

What noone has mentioned yet is the fact that Howard and Bynum are 2 of the top 3 juvenile re s in the league. Neither guy has enough fire in their gut or brains in their head to make any team a championship team.

Morey has stated multiple times that he will not be picky when it comes to position while looking for a second star. Franchise players are hard enough to acquire regardless of what position they play. He top priority is to find superstar #2, then he'll tweak the rest of the roster accordingly.

Baby Drew to Houston? I am not seeing it…The question you have to ask is how would that benefit the Lakers?

If the Rockets wanted Bynum, they would have traded for him in the Dwight deal.

Yeah, i guess you're right. Perhaps this time around, Morey wants to buy low, getting the best value out of him (of others got scared with his current injury status). Omer Asik is already a good investment & asset at the C position, the new CBA requires you to be smart in balancing the squad with talents at all spots, so there it is.

it's gonna be a big gamble for a team based in a small market imho. a healthy bynum was a top 3 center in the league but im not sure if he can ever come back to 100% what he was, and if he turns out to be another yao, rockets would suffer a big financial loss w/o any donation from the s
