He will be sent back next week.
Per Spurs Twitter. Interesting move. Due to Blair's sighting...?![]()
He will be sent back next week.
For Baynes, it might be only a 1 game stint for tonight's game.
I would like to see Joseph getting a legit shot at the backup PG spot. Mills has been inconsistent while De Colo and Neal are more suited to play SG.

i would also like to how cojo has developed but i have a feeling next season get his chance
Excellent. So much for my post in the other thread. With the way Mills and Nando have completely failed to step up, expect Joseph to get thrown in the pool in the next few days. It's not too late for him to make the playoff rotation if he shows he can do it.
Hopefully it's to give CoJo a legit shot and not just to have an extra warm body because of the Neal and S-Jax injury.

Mills has been All-star inconsistent.
I like having him there.
He either gets on the court and goes god mode, or he becomes the invisible pillar.
We need someone with that spark and energy.
Give Cojo a few games while Neal rests. Just to see what's there.
This is a good potential move for both players, and I hope both get legitimate playing time. Baynes needs the reps to stay fresh and perhaps learn the system in a game setting. Joseph needs the chance to return to NBA-level compe ion and see if there's anything there for this season.
I sincerely hope Pop throws Joseph into the fire for 3-5 games to see if he can grab the backup PG position. He has the highest defensive ceiling of the potential backup PGs on the roster. If he can simply have a positive impact on the defensive end and manage the game on the offensive end during the 8-15 minutes that Tony is on the bench (a la Jacque Vaughn), then he's probably an upgrade over the uneven performance so far of De Colo and Mills.
Probably nothing more than Manu still feeling RRT and GNeal sore calf. But if he gets a couple of minutes it'll be good to have a look. But don't expect too much from Pop, just some caution.
Regarding Cojo that's an awesome and unexpected news with De Colo and Mills both ting the bed more or less.
As for Baynes, hopefully Pop doesn't make Blair the fourth big or something while letting Baynes in the scrub league.
good call tbh de colo and mills arent showing enough imo.. give cojo a chance at back up see if he can guard isaiah thomas see if he can run the pick and roll
A sign that Joseph might get a legit shot is that Toros have made a trade a couple of days ago for another PG.![]()
Coleman for Jefferson was a SG for SG trade though...
Baynes is failing the eye test. Better to go sharpen his skills against D League scrubs.
This. He needs minutes as PG, none of that Mills / Cojo Combo
yoooooooooo everyting in my spurs dreams are falling into place ....................
1. blair gets a legit playoff spot rotation ..........................
2. cojo gets a legit shot at the back up pg spot .........................

But seriously no Blair please, why is Pop even playing him now that the trade deadline is over??
Looks way better defensively than the turd towers. Glad for him that he didn't sign 3 years, under Pop he may never see the light of the day. I wouldn't put past Pop to try to re-sign both turd towers tbh.
If Blair could hit his jumper consistently, use the power dribble move more often, and eliminate most of those lackadaisical passes/TOs; sure I'd have confidence in him getting minutes...
I've seen Jefferson being listed both as a SG and a PG.
This is awesome, I love Cory Joseph. Great defender, underrated shooter, makes good decisions. I know Parker is great but Cojo IS the second best pure point guard on this team. Baynes continues to look lost out their, this just isn't his season. I really hope Cojo gets a chance during this home stretch.
Honestly I don't know what happened to him, but I'm not even sure if Jefferson could play regular backup minutes behind Tre kelley at this point. Looks like a bunch of NBA teams have had their D-League affiliates make trades so they can get good looks at players (Canton got Austin's Kyle Weaver and the Toros got a pick in a four team trade, for example) but getting Dontell Jefferson is kind of a head scratcher. Maybe there's some medical problem the Spurs think they can help with or want to see him through rehab -- I just don't know why he's playing so much worse than when he got called up a few years back.
I'd have to disagree. While Blair and Bonner are not very good defenders (although their defensive liabilities tend to be exaggerated on this site), Baynes has not shown himself to be an improvement in his limited minutes. The game is still too fast for him and he is a step slow. I've also seen him to be foul prone. But even if you could show that Baynes was a better defensive player (I don't see the evidence), he clearly is not very good offensively. At least from what I've seen in limited minutes.
Alternatively, Blair and Bonner have skills that, in the right situation, can be useful. Bonner is a great three point shooter in the regular season. Emphasis on regular season. Blair is pretty good at generating turnovers and is a great passer and fairly decent, mobile finisher off pick and roles. So they have decernable NBA skills.
Baynes hasn't shown he has that in what I've seen. Doesn't mean it was a waste to get him. I think the Spurs realize that they can't beat everyone to the best Euros anymore, so maybe he's trying to get some of them before they develop into good Euros. That said, Baynes needs a lot of work to be servicable. He's not there yet and the D League is his best hope right now.
